I think classical music is best for testing sound clarity. My setup is similar, stock HU, audiocontrol lc7i. swapped speakers with some polk audio db691's i had from a previous vehicle and an older amp. Ive always enjoyed those polks. Unfortunately i had to settle for underseat sub. 8" all in one kicker. Not very happy but the doublecab has no room for a real sub box. And i was trying to not put $$ into it/use old stuff i had lying around.

Thanks, Monet. This may become my favorite mod.

Did they mount your amp under the seat? Or on the back wall of the cab?

I had no doubt she would let you!

I can’t tell. I just stuck my hand on it and tried to move it and it didn’t budge.
Oh, when they mount the subs in your box see if they can do a high powered terminal connector so you get enuf power.

They will be doing that and installing quick disconnects on the sub if for some reason I want to take it out.

They said everything will be 4 ohms. So there will be no power loss.

Also sweet hook up @Tundra4Pinay good on your boy Alonzo @evolution. Still on the fence here, but even though I don't spend that much time in traffic, I also prefer or find need to tweak my pavement princess' weak stock HU w/o going b/s crazy just to get some quality sound esp when windows open. I don't believe cranking up 6-7/8's of the way to hear quality ranges is necessary. Just a small peeve for Toyota corrected with added list of required mods by way of :spending:. Happy you all are out there sharing knowledge base on the threads. May not need to be experts but the experience feedback is fun, absolutely acknowledged and appreciated. Even to us non-pervs :rofl:.

    Lol
Have you looked at the prices of them on ebay?
Sometimes the oem speakers have crazy expensive asking prices. I cant remeber what those were list at but i think they might have been on the laughably high side also.

Now im gonna have to google it...ehh

    Good question.

For that price (which is almost as much as a truely good pair if mids) you would think there is either a lot of ppl buying them or there is just a limited stock?

Ehh.... Actually, I have no idea how marketing and all that stuff works so im just gonna go with "cause... reasons"!

I still got my oem rear door speakers! I see brand new pair of shoes in my future.

Any reason why the installer is only using channels 1, 2 and 5?

If he is going for a tuned in front stage (no rear door speakers) and he is using passive crossovers for the mids and tweeters, then that would be normal for a six channel amp.

A passive mid and tweeter will only need one channel to the amp. Ex. Left mid and left tweet = channel one to the amp.

Channel 2 would be the right mid/tweet.

The passive crossover splits the signal leaving the amp on the speaker wires.

Wouldn’t the rear door speakers be channels 3/4? Thats why I was asking. The rca plugs aren’t in 3/4. She has a crew max.

They can be if he chooses. There is also those, including myself, who purposely do not run rear speakers.

Not using rear speakers makes it a lot easier to create the "stage" effect. Basically your dash is the stage, like at a concert. There is alot of work involved, speaker placing and audio tunning, to achieve this. Its an important effect if you are really aiming for realistic sound quality.

The rear speakers can still be used in this type of setup but requires alot more work to incorporate. The reason is because they will pull the music/stage behind you if not done right.

But its just a preference thing really. There are pros and cons to whichever way someone chooses to go but imo, if you dont have ppl in the backseats often then you really can not use rear speakers. Most ppl that have heard my system are surprised when i tell them i dont have them connected. Well unless they had to ride in the back ofcourse.

I was wondering because she got 4 doors and the sub. Can still amp up the rears and set gain and filters to help with staging. The signals would be better off amp compared to being powered by hu.
If he was bridging, it would be bridging 1/2, 3/4 and 5 still sub. Running the amp closer to rms instead of near peak helps too. Turning up the sub signal on amp side would require less knob +.

Yeah, definitely. I guess she could just be waiting for the rear speakers.
