I recently purchased a 2003 Tundra Access Cab with stepside bed. Love it so far, but I’m a painter and need to have a ladder rack as well as a Tonneau cover to protect tools. Does anyone know of any rack that will work with a cover. Honestly I’ve trued about every shop online. It seems the difficulty cones with it being a stepside. Anyone? Help!

Uffda. That's a tall order my good sir. I don't know if you'll find a tonneau with ladder rack support. I've never heard such a thing.

Honestly you might want to just find a topper and put a roof rack on that.

Yah. I just don’t want to ruin the look of my stepside with a topper.

Any place here in MN you’d recommend for the topper at a reasonable price?

Does your bed have stake holes on the rails? You could buy a rack and fabricate something to go in the stake hole to hold the rack, then get a Tonneau cover that fits inside the rails. I had a full lumber rack on my "07 Tundra. Didn't want a full rack on my '17 so I bought a 2 piece rack and did a little fabricating to make it work with my tool box. Now I can just install the rear portion as needed but the front stays on with the tool box all the time as a headache rack. I thought about about using the stake holes to make it work then getting a Tonneau cover, I still may in the future. I'm sure it can be done with some creativity.

sorry, I'm not really sure. I know Radco sells new toppers, and there's some guy on CL that sells truck toppers, but I'm not sure what they'd have for your step side.

    A customized cryptic solution:

    1) Buy a two post ladder rack the ones that mount only on one side.

    2) Buy an aluminum sheet (3/16”) the size of your bed including rails. Screw this on to your rails. You’ll have 2 notches on the ladder rack side for the posts.

    3) Buy a 3/4” sheet of plywood and install in your bed. This is your new sliding storage rack.

You can fill in the blanks and customize accordingly.
