What have you done to your Tundra today?

Im upgrading the awful sound system toyota puts in the tundras. so far I got the rear speakers in, the 2 amps, distribution block and my lc7i installed. Under the two amps I cut thin steel plates to go under the carpet for the amps to bolt to and the dist block and lc7i, I just used washers under the carpet with little bolts. I didn't want to screw into the metal floor and I wanted something more secure than velcro. I ran the wire from the battery, not connected yet, to the amps. Basically what took me the longest is mapping out where everything will go. I didn't want to lose any seat functionality. The way I've got everything set, I'll be able to still fold the seats down all the way. There is almost no space when they are folded down so it was a little tricky. I worked on it for a few hours this weekend, just taking my time and making sure everything is done right. I haven't done this in over 10 years so I'm a bit rusty. I'm using the pioneer amp to power 2 6x9s in the front and 2 6x5s in the rear and my old 300 watt eclipse amp to power a 12 inch slim mount sub I bought. The sub won't go in for a little while though. I wish I had bought a 10 instead just so I would be a little smaller, but I got such a good deal I will just use it. I plan on making a fiberglass box with an mdf face that way it contours to the back panel. Again I don't want to lose seat travel, not more than one or two clicks.



I'm using 1/0 gauge wire from the battery to the distribution block and 4 gauge to the amps. A 250 amp fuse and two 80 amp fuses in the dist block.

 

Yeah I had the entune system in my tacoma. While it was better than what my tundra came with, I bought my tundra without a system on purpose. I knew I could put a system in for way cheaper and much better quality.

Not necessarily done today, but the past week. Debaged all but the 5.7 badge, installed bed box(uber handy), plastidipped both bumpers, steps, wheels, grill surround and 5.7 badge. Threw on Goodyear MTR's, installed 3/1 toytec lift, smittybuilt lightbar (PIA), have hella lights mocked up but wiring not done yet. Also color match painted front grill yota logo.

 

Towed this about 100 miles , little over 8000 lbs. . Hauled it like a champ. .

 

Is that the toy tech 2.5 to 3.5? How hard was it to install and did you put a spacer in the back?how much a 1 inch? How does it ride and handle?

 

Also did you bring it to 3 or 3.5 in the front?

 

Oh I see you upgraded the shocks in the back to the 5100 correct...? Did that eliminate the need for the spacer in the back?

I got my rockstars today also. I'm running 35x12.50x20 toyo M/T's. No rubbing either with a toytec lift.

Steve, I think Brian already had some lift but if yours has the regular coilovers, you can adjust them for up to 3.5 inches of lift. You just can't go wrong with that lift unless you plan on racing your truck thru the desert! Ha, and then you still might be ok. So let me say one thing, I do like the look of Brian's set up and all these guys with 35s on a 3 inch lift. It looks great... But not my preference. Take a look at trucks with 33s on a 3 inch lift. 305 55 20s. Like the nitto mt or toyo mt. Just get two picks side by side. The old school guys usually like 33s so I would probably peg myself in that category, but look at how the truck looks balanced with 33s and looks like it's lifted a little more. I think a 6 inch looks good with 35s though. Another benefit to the 33s is you won't need to adjust your speedometer and after you do the zpc, which you should do after the lift and tires ( http://www.tundratalk.net/forums/tu...a-technicians-vsc-zero-point-calibration.html ) you won't have issues with your traction control or stability control going off at the drop of a hat. Not everyone does, but a lot do with big tires and a lift.

Anyway, just some things to think about. It's going to look damn good whatever route you go!
