Actually going up one size when the time comes. But thanks for looking our for me. I was always a trendsetter in my plaid leisure suits back in the 70's.

Personally, i could not stand loosing power and burning more fuel to impress others. I will take my stock suspension/tires and SC any day over a jacked up gas pig.

I have 33’s, and they look small on my truck to me. I’ll be considering 35’s when the time comes to replace them, depending on how easy it will be.

Also, mine is 100% a pavement princess. Pretty much zero chance I’ll ever take it off road. I think I’ve used 4wd twice.

I'm not obsessed with 35s. As soon as I decide what mods need to happen to fit 37s, that's what I'm doing.

This is exactly why I went 35’s...I was all set to get 33’s but IMO 33’s always looked a tad small in every 3” lift I saw pics of. So I was all set on 34’s but when I found G2’s for under 1g in 35’s I pounced!

I've always been a fan of going with whatever size tire fits without any pounding/rubbing/cutting. It helps fill out the wheel well a little and adds a little ground clearance. The added benefit of saving 1-2mpg over going to a 35"+ is a bonus considering I take a lot of long road trips before even getting to dirt.

LOL I actually wasn’t kidding when I said I’m going to 33’s. I would prefer 35 or 37’s, but I’m just not ready to commit to everything that goes with that. I’m not one to just stuff a big tire on and be content. I would want my suspension and gears to match. Not just lifting the truck, but MT travel or LT.

The correct answer is, it gives you more ground clearance for the diff when going with larger tires. It is also that much more cushion for the pushin. For me if I had those big tires, it better be just as capable off road.

But, I don’t have that type of funds. I’m going to compromise and just make a small increase in tire size to fill the wheel well just a bit, it will limit me but I can still have great fun off road. While keeping some pep in the step of the truck. I can always do more later. Tires wear out and I can upgrade in the future. For me if I would to go 35s it is a must to re-gear to 4.88’s. I would just not be happy otherwise. And my money has other priorities at the moment. Baby steps LOL

BTW I smoked a titan today and that wouldn’t of happened with 35’s and stock gears.

I think I agree. While I love a purpose built off-road rig, I do use mine for travel. Which is why I like my pro suspension. It’s basically a stock option. But I wouldn’t mind full skids and sliders among a few other things.

This. Plus, to me a Tundra just doesn't look right with the wimpy stock size tires.

Solid logic and a respectable plan. It took us three years and four suspension/wheel/tire upgrades to get to 37s that are fully capable off road. The good news is, the used market for your take offs is strong. We were alaways able to sell our used parts quickly for a reasonable price which helped offset the cost of the next upgrade.

Yup. We’re lifted about 2” and run 37s with no rub at full lock and articulation. I did a write up in our build thread if you want to see everything needed to make it happen. If you click the picture in my signature it takes you to the table of contents. I still have to update it with how we manage to now run 0 offset beadlocks on a 2” lift.

You have one of my favorite builds on here. I would love to have what you done to the truck. Very impressive, not over the top but very stout and thought out. I really like the minimal lift, large tires and glass fender so you don’t compromise travel. And the fact that you addressed the weak links. Proper! While I am mechanically inclined and pretty creative, some of that is just beyond my ability alone. Would definitely have to solicit help. For sure an expensive hobby, I must resist temptation to bury myself LOL

Honestly, I think the Ford Raptor is at least one of the reasons why everybody has to have 35's now. Back in the day, I think most people were fine with 33's on a street truck. Sure, some people had bigger lifts and tires back then but it wasn't nearly as common as it is today IMO. Then again, back then most trucks were owned by people who actually used their trucks as a truck. Today trucks are more likely to be used as penis extender rather than as a tool to haul something.

The big difference is, you actually go off-roading with your Tundra. I know some others here do as well and for you guys, 35's or larger make senses if done right (sorry but I can't help but laugh at guys running 35's or larger on spacer lifts and stock gears) but the thing is, the overwhelming majority of Tundra's (or any make/model of truck for that matter) are pavement queens that hardly ever see a dirt road much less an honest to god trail unless they are looking for a place to pose their truck for photos.

I'm all for making our trucks look and function better but there is a line between upgrading with purpose and just being a poser. I do agree that the factory wheel/tire combo looks weak and the tires suck but there are a lot of combo's available for the Tundra that will give it the right "look" without all the negatives that come with a 3+" lift and 35" tires. Again, if you actually off road your truck and have the money to do it right then cool but for the average person/truck, the downsides outweigh whatever "cool guy points" 35's may get you?

Just my humble opinion. YMMV? In the end. Its your money and your truck, so do whatever makes you happy.
