Cold air intake recommendation

ok so I am thinking about changing my air intake. By looking at the stock intake, it already looks like a cold intake system. Am I wrong? What's the difference between the stock intake and let's say a TRD intake.
I have a 2015 SR5 dbl cab 5.7. What have other people installed. And has it given you REAL improvements? I know what the manufactures say it will give, but have you really noticed a difference.

 

Most HP gains from aftermarket CAI's are at very high RPM's. Yes, the stock unit is a true CAI, the TRD version does have more air flow. You will get all kinds of opinions on this concerning aftermarket CAI. They have a cool sound compared to stock unit. I am neutral on this subject. Can't hurt anything going aftermarket. Matter of choice.

 

When I purchased mine, there were some crazy claims. Volant, for example, claimed 30+ hp gains. TRD claimed modest claim of around 8 (I don't remember exact figure). That was why I went with TRD intake. Their claim was more believable.

I like the sound that the intake make (I have it mated to the TRD exhaust). Whatever gain it gave is not detectable by my butt-dnyo, haha.

 

Can you hear the difference the TRD CAI makes w/ the TRD exhaust? "If" I were to get a CAI I will more than likely get the TRD CAI to match w/ my TRD exhaust but I was just curious if you can even hear it?

 

I just put the TRD CAI in my Pro and it makes the TRD exhaust sound that much better. You can also feel that the engine is breathing better. Also I have a slight improvement in gas mileage.

 

I would probably switch to the TRD intake if I run across one on Craig's list. You would think that the TRD CAI would come standard on the TRD. Especially the TRD Pro.

 

I drove around with just the TRD cat-back for about one month before installing the TRD CAI. The overall sound got somewhat louder with the intake.

What's up fellas I have a 2011 lifted Toyota tundra on 285/70R18 Toyo M/T. I want to put an exhaust to get a beefier sound out of my truck but while I was at it I figured I would try to improve MPG and was wondering if a cold air intake is this. Suggestions on make and models of parts is appreciated also! thanks for your input and God bless!

I always recommend stock air box mod with throttle body coolant bypass mod.

I carry every brand of cold air intake, but spend more time talking guys out of them and recommending the free mods.

Sabm actually does something. And it's nearly free. And coolant bypass mod keeps 200* coolant out of your throttle body, also free and is actually cold

Feel a lil difference with my S&B take off and sound gas mileage I'm not a heavy foot so a mile or two added

 

Looking into getting a cold air intake for my 07 Tundra. Leaning towards a K&N or Flowmaster. Have been reading that it will set off my MAF sensor. Is this correct? What problems will it cause? Are there any intakes besides the high dollar TRD cold air intakes that won't cause this problem?

 

Just buy the drop in filter, save your money as you already have a CAI, which is stock, you can use the money on a more helpful MOD, IMO
