you can also unplug the wire that connects to the bottom of the ignition tumbler. no more annoying dinging sound when your keys are in the ignition and the door is open. (warning: dont do this if you are prone to locking your keys in ur car)

I turned off my seat belt buzzer too. the flashing red light is enough reminder.

yes, go to your dealerships parts department. ask for a seat belt extender to "properly secure a child's carseat". they come in various lengths, and are free, as its a safety issue; the dealer may charge a freight fee of $4 or $5 bucks. think i paid $4.95 for my freight.

they'll need your VIN at the service desk for ordering.

you can either cut the strap off the buckle, or tuck it between seat and console. i chose the latter.

    problem solved, no reprogramming.

I did this on my Tacoma. Wife had a bad habit of unbuckling when we pulled into a parking lot and the thing dinging like the dickens till I got parked. The software was also super handy when diagnosing some dying TPMS sensors.

I was also able to disable seatbelt dinging with a OBD Bluetooth reader and the Carista app on iPhone. Has some other settings you can change but don’t remember all it could do.
