Spec'd a system with James that would best fit my needs (see pics). Arrived today! Working on the install with a bit of sound deadener in the doors.
All parts including Sub box is top quality. James is meticulous and includes mostly everything needed to install. Enjoying the install. Thanks again!

Does anyone have any pics of how the center tweets are wired on a non JBL system?

Definitely need the amp. Haven’t installed the dash speakers, but the doors and sub aren’t enough to stay with.

Doors don’t pick up any bass :(

This is what I'm afraid of. I have a 5 channel amp, but would still need to fork over another 300 for dsr1 and wiring. I may have to. And idk if my amp will work with the dsr1. Are only certain amps compatible?

Why don’t you just upgrade your head unit instead for $300?

Can I get a decent headunit for under 400? I would be all for it. I hate my headunit so much but figured replacing it would be over 800.
I would like it to have bluetooth connection for at least pandora, and pandora controls on the screen not just my phone. I don't need android auto really. I also would need the basic maestro unit anyway to retain factory controls and options? I'm kinda lost on the headunit stuff. It's not like it used to be when I was doing my own stereos in the late 90s

I bought a pioneer avh-2300 NEX for $299. Granted, you need to buy maestro and all the harnesses but now I have CarPlay and kept Sirius XM, Bluetooth etc.

It's filtered out so the bass doesn't destroy them, that's what the sub is for.

But the sub isn’t packing as much bass as some made it out to be on the previous thread D:

Lol, no the one hits plenty hard, it’s the stock HU/amp. Put an aftermarket amp go mine and it shakes the truck

I figured I would prefer to have a new head unit then keep the stock unit and get a sound processor.

The stock headunit was bad enough but when the ditched pandora it made it even worse. I'd love to replace it

So you need to plug phone in for android auto. But can control and play pandora via bluetooth? Does it have google maps or something similar? And I keep my steering wheel controls and display readouts? Can you also see vehicle info on the headunit like tire pressure and whatnot? This is very intriguing for me. I had no idea I could find a headunit with these functions for close to this price

You have to have the phone plugged in to use CarPlay or android auto. But you could play pandora either thru Bluetooth or CarPlay

Steering wheel controls are kept in tact/also customizable with the idatalink maestro.

Yeah, the amp is a must. I knew it from the beginning, speaker and sub upgrade is not enough to fix the problem.

For an aftermarket head unit you're looking at about $200 extra from crutchfield for all the necessary hardware. This includes new face plate, mrr, mrr wire harness, and adapters. For about $25 more crutchfield will pin out the new radio harness to the mrr harness.

That’s about right. Or you could try and piece everything together thru Amazon eBay and save a few dollars.

You definitely can't expect this sub to be that loud with the stock amp

So... Here's my question. Does anybody have more pictures of the dash install? I'm not quite understading the 'splice the wire from the right/left tweeter speaker to get sound in the center'

You guys should also check with James on his prices for head units. I bet he can get a lot of stuff (even if its not on his website) at real good price

I'm fine with being patient if I'm getting a good deal. If I pay full price, I want it yesterday.

Just finished the install. Process wasn’t easy, spent at least 10 minutes outside in the freezing cold talking to the guy who I paid to install the system. Not easy, but I’m willing sacrifice for quality! Running a kenwood HU and alpine 4 channel, sounds incredible! Thanks for a great deal and experience @tech12volts

In all seriousness, was totally doable by me probably right up the amp install. That’s where I would have failed. He ran new wire for me too
