Connecting canopy to cab?

    Hello, all!
I am pretty new to my '04 DC... but, I wouldn't trade it for anything. I love it. I had an '01 Sequoia for years before giving up and buying a truck (homeownership dictated it). My question is this:

Has anyone managed to successfully keep the bugs/weather out while parked between their cab (roll down window) and their canopy? I am wanting to purchase a GoFastCamper canopy and I want to maintain the ability to go from cab to canopy without leaving the rig... and living the PNW, we get a lot of rain. So my main concern would be water intrusion. Has anyone successfully managed this? I'm not looking for a long-term storage or one that would require it to be used while driving; only parked and for a couple days at a time. Thanks!

(I know GFC doesn't offer a fold down window for their canopy; that's another hurdle I have).

If you put your mind too it, most things are possible. Lots of handy members here that can attest to that.

To your point, those campers are $6k+ (without a rear access window) and you are wanting to install a window? Call the company and ask them if they can do it for you. Then ask them the best way to keep bugs and weather from between the cab and camper. The overhang on those campers looks like it would already do a fairly good job with the weather.

I'm looking at bed camper options for my 2006 Tundra DC as well. I wanted a GFC, but I can't wait till spring of 2020, which is their current lead time. I've been talking with Leentu and they have confirmed that their new Sunzal can be made for the 2004-2006 Tundra DC and I like you I want to be able to climb between truck and camper on occasion and would also want to seal out the elements. I have sent them the measurements of our window because they are currently in the process of specking out windows for the front of the camper. As was mentioned, I think the overhang will take care of that vast majority of the weather issue, but I think if you put a large rubber gasket around the outside of your window and mounter the camper so that it compresses the gasket, you'd probably be good to go....something like this...

OK I know it’s not exactly the same thing. But I had an ARE a shell on my last pick up truck. Instead of a boot installed in between the cab and cap, I used a small bicycle inner tube. When I got to where I was going I get out my small 20 inch bicycle inner tube and fill it up just a little bit. Stuff it in between the cab and cap and then fill it up until it sealed.

Reason I did this was so that I could get heat into the shell when I have two people in the back. I had a small “safe for indoor use” propane tile heater that I would sit on the fold down center consul of my truck pointed into the cap.

Yeah I put foam pipe insulation around the frame on the camper shell when I cut the front on mine.i also put a flat foam seal on the body above the pipe insulation for a double seal.
