What have you done to your 1st gen Tundra today?

I've been studying these pics. You've got me wanting to hop on the D.D train as well. Just so I'm clear, the fuel rails(in blue below) have to be completely removed right? Seems like a hot of hoses in the way on the driver side.

 

The rail(s) does come out only AFTER the injectors are pulled off. I removed them to examine and oil and fit each injector in to make sure of proper fitment, then removed them and re-installed the rail and while holding the rail elevated inserted the injectors one at a time carefully. This is where the hand yoga takes place.

Once all the injectors are in place, then the slow and precise drop down into the manifold holes making sure things line up before pushing down hard into place and screwing down the 10mm bolts.

To your point about the hoses, it would be difficult to explain but once the job gets underway you’ll understand where to peel them back and whats the best temporary stationing area for each.

Yeah buddy. New Headlight/Side marker assys also came today. They sent an entire package of assys to redo the whole front lights when I only needed one replacement side marker that leaked.

This means I have a free refresher back-up set to install in 4-5 more years.

 

I need new headlight assemblies *hint hint*

 

There is a way around this Canada tax law. I read the law a few months ago and you can recieve gifts from out of country to skirt the tax code. Shipped right to your door. Only thing is: You have to trust the person sending your gift with your money first.

 

The taxes arent really an issue for me. Duty and tax on the SEMA wheels I got was $80 ish and I still saved hundreds even after exchange vs buying in Canada.

My issue is most US retailers wont ship to Canada or have outrageous shipping prices. I generally have to wait for the one time I year I go back to my hometown which is on the border. I have stuff shipped to Sumas, Wash and go pick it up then.

Living 12+ hours one way from the border sucks sometimes.

Wellll. Pulled the door panel
Off on the driver side to see why the window won’t roll down all the way.
Seems the door has sustained damage a while ago. The inside of the door is bent up and be window track is broken clean off the door skin, sooo now I’ll be looking for a used door. (New is like 700 bucks for me... no thank you)

 

Had a dream that my gas tank was empty after driving 70 miles.

Glad it was still 3/4 when I hopped in to drive to work.

Taking a trip in a 2018 Tundra today. I’ll report back on any interior squeaks/noises and technology complaints. He is already asking me about a red rear swaybar.

 

Not covered in ice - must be a photoshop. ;-)

Tundra got me home fine. Got me up the driveway fine. I got out & fell down on the ice trying to stand up the wiper arms.
I wonder if Falken makes winter boots. Sheeesh. Ice, ice, ice everywhere - oh & more ice.

 

Sorry to bring it back to pink milkshake, but there were a few misconceptions from people.

The pink milkshake is caused by the radiator leaking internally, not the external trans cooler on tow package trucks. Replace the radiator and problem solved.

When the truck is cold and not runnng, coolant leaks into the trans, overfilling it. When the truck heats up and is running, the pressure from the transmission pump pushes atf into the cooling system.

When this happens, if caught early enough, you can save your trans. It happened to my dad’s 02 a few years ago, and we got lucky. Flushed 5 gallons of atf through the trans, flushed the cooling system, replaced the radiator, and we were good to go.

 

Ice isn't typically an issue in South East Texas. Lol

 

Then how do you get away w/ doing donuts in the parking lot at work?

Slowly getting my garage ready for the tundra to have the bed removed... my freebie 4runner has be be stripped clean first though...

(Anyone know what’ll swap into a 1st gen tundra from these?)

 

Engine, trans, front suspensions. That's all I know

 

What year 3rd gen?

 

Revived my faided paint and fixed my chrome trim. Turned out especially well with the paint in my mind it use to look matte.
A lot of elbow grease and time can make a big difference.

What did you use on the chrome trim? It looks new again! I haven't been successful in reviving mine.

I don't know, but I'd think a bunch of interior parts would. Seats, seat belts, bulbs, something like a courtesy light in the ceiling or door....
