Just go with the Bully Dog....that's my plan.

 

I just turn off LSD and tow mode when I get a boner and want to floor it. No dicking around with tuners. Regear or SC if you want more balls.

 

What you're saying is it changes the pedal to throttle butterfly ratio by overriding the fly by wire signal, that's all. No change in shift points.

In support of this product, I think that's beneficial. I believe T/H mode works similarly (in addition to changing the shift points) because when I turn T/H mode off, I can feel the pedal relax as if the signal ratio to the throttle body is being reduced. I like the way the throttle feels in T/H mode, but don't necessarily want the shift points to be increased, so this product may work fine for a lot of folks.

 

Don't need an SC wheeling up here in the Rocky Mountains. Total overkill. Re-gearing is good depending on tire size. A Bully Dog couldn't hurt. I've got plenty of HP for my use. I need to swap out my oem UCA's for Colorado made adjustable SPC's. RCI full skids too. It all comes down to what you do with your Tunny. My .02 cents.

 

You are correct. I never said it didn't work, just that if you smash the pedal harder the same thing is achieved.

As mentioned in my other post, I am just trying to post accurate information for the folks on the fence. Too many people on IG hootin and hollering about how this thing is basically the best thing since sliced bread, without knowing the actual tech behind it. I won't pay $300 for it, but to the ones that do, they should know exactly what it does.

 

Your info was great and very informative. A few more $ you can get a BD tuner. If you think you need it. At least better $ spent...

 

My money is still in re-gearing. It's a better investment that reduces engine load and could increase fuel efficiency, within reason, due to less effort required to be output by the engine to get the truck moving.

 

Ditto...and Auburn Gear or better yet..............ARB locker ...

 

I ordered one knowing about the 30 return policy... I only got this for eco mode... lol again just need a crutch to keep my foot off the pedal lol... If this doesnt work for me i'll return it and try a BD tuner.

 

Your "mash the pedal" is just a pedestrian observation without having actually used the PC or "comtraption". Purchase the Pedal Commander and use it during the 30 day return period, note your experience and do a review for the rest of us Tundra owners.

 

I agree, coming from my previous Tundra my 17' was a total dog, Pedal Commander was best investment so far

Mine came in and just picked it up about an hour ago. Took literally 1 minute to install. Didn’t even install the app, just manually changed settings on the controller.

Wow!

I stay in tow haul every day working in this west Texas oilfield and this thing in Sport +1 is way more touchy than tow haul.

Sport (+) +4 , which is the highest of the 36 settings, shoves me in the back of the seat and gets my Pro exhaust roaring.
The best part is that it shifts appropriately and doesn’t hold the gear forever like tow haul is designed to do.

I would never expect this kind of response with just a $230 controller, I am pleasantly surprised.

I have yet to try Eco or City mode, but I can already tell you that this thing is well worth the $230 (Amazon)

I am interested in Bullydog and will eventually move to that once I get my lift, gears, etc. but for now I am very very pleased with the Pedal Commander.

It’s always nice to get something, plug it in and it just works.

 

1. It's a 5 minute install and can be removed anytime.
2. It doesn't mess with my warranty.
3. If my butt dyno says it feels like the truck is more responsive then it was worth the money to me.

 

I went with the pedal commander because I didn’t want to mess with my warranty like the bullydog or any other tuner will do.

 

How it works for you? I also have 2018 Tundra. Does it help with proper gear shifting or something like truck is not holding gear long before shifting to next one??

 

It’s a throttle response controller. It eliminates hesitation or basically gives it a giddy up and go once you hit the accelerator.

 

The gas pedal on my '07 is very responsive, and the DAP tune brought everything else up to speed.
I don't believe I need a PC like newer trucks seem to.

 

Early gen 2s had a very sensitive throttle. Had PC to smooth out on 07, set on eco

 

The PC is awesome on my 2017. I could never go back. I like the fact that it leaves no trace. I think a tune is a very good option as well but it will be detectable from my understanding if you ever need warranty work. I bought a 100,000 mile warranty so I don’t want to deal with that.

 

Anyone use it with the 4.6?

 

I am interested in this but I will probably have to remove it when it goes to the dealer for service.

 

It takes 2 minutes to pull off.

 

Took my truck in for an oil service and left it in. Just turned it off with the bluetooth app. The dealership didn't even notice it at all.

 

I had one on my 4Runner and absolutely loved it.

 

I just bought one yesterday from Amazon. I received it today. Got it installed. I'll test it out tomorrow.

 

So far I'm pretty impressed with the pedal commander. Very easy to install and use. I like I can change the setting on the fly. I'm trying out city mode right now. I'll get to the other ones soon.

 

Yeah I can already tell econ takes a ton of pedal to get going. Haven't tried to adjust that one any lower.

 

Just installed my PC. Made a huge difference. I traded a 2017 Ram 1500 Sport in for my Tundra. Immediately felt a difference in throttle response between the two, Ram was much better. Installed my PC and now it has more than the Ram. I keep it on City mode, and it has really good response, much better than stock and if it is in Tow mode.
