Here are my plans so far....

I recently purchased this 2002 Tundra RWD access cab. I found it on Craig's List here in Seattle and had been looking for a while. I originally wanted an 05 or 06 double cab limited, but couldn't find a decent one for a reasonable price. One morning before work I checked Craig's again and found this gem, so I immediately crafted a sincere email inquiry. The seller had numerous emails on the truck but decided to allow me first shot at it, lucky me! The truck was a good 1-1/2 hour drive from me, so I knew if I didn't go that night I would lose it. Once I made it there I had to meet the seller at his gated community so he could let me in, good sign so far! After a short drive, there it was in his driveway awaiting my inspection. Unfortunately it was a dark January night and I couldn't see everything I wanted to even though I had a flashlight. After meeting the older gentleman I knew this was going to be a great buy. He allowed me to drive it completely around the country club development and told my to punch it to test the power, ha ha. I knew once I climbed into the cab of this truck it was going to be mine. The interior was absolutely showroom condition and still smelled like the day it came off the lot. The seller had it listed at $6900.00 which I thought was fair, but asked him what was his lowest price. he hesitated and stammered a bit and then I said how about 6500.00? He agreed that was a fair price then we went into his lavish estate to finalize the sale. He had stacks of paper work from the dealership he bought it from and a CarFax that was squeaky clean. We sat for a while and talked about his life experiences abroad then I counted out the money for him and off I went with my new (used) truck. The drive home was exhilarating as I sped up the I-405 to get my baby to its new home. The truck handled exceptionally well and I was pleased with its performance. Now safe in my garage, I began to start the process....

Soapy wash, clay bar, condition plastic and rubber, rubbing compound to paint, touch up chips with duplicolor, 3 coats of wax, full interior detail, Full engine compartment detail including under hood.

The first thing I bought were Weathertech gray mats for the front, I really like these.

I know license plate frames are not something of that great importance but I am a Seahawks fan so on it went. Not sure what to do on the front yet, I'm so anal with these things.

Okay, now we are ready for a lift, wheels and tires.

I have read some threads about the Bilstein 5100 adjustable shocks and how you can achieve enough lift to go to a bigger tire size. I am by no means an expert on this topic so welcome any advice.

I emailed a very reputable tire shop near me and got back a quote today on the work, see below and tell me what you think?

The Bilstein B8 5100 Shocks are available. With install and alignment are 692.96 plus tax. XD wheels are going to be around 210.00 - 260 per wheel depending on what route you would like to go. The 265/70R17 Cooper AT3 4S tires are on sale for 166.00 per tire and they do come with a 65,000 mile tread warranty on the tire. With install and before tax would be 772.00.

I know you guys have an opinion so don't hold back and please advise!

After the shocks, wheels and tires, I am moving on to an exhaust system and a cold air intake.

I am looking at the Flowmaster 50 series and the Airaid CAI, it looks so great with the blue filter.

Then I am thinking LED lighting interior and exterior. Any brands you prefer? Philips, Sylvania, etc...?

And finally, I want to go to Car Toys and get a double din receiver with Focal speakers and maybe an under seat powered sub.

I appreciate an OEM look so my opinion may differ from others but a level truck with a little bigger tire is all she needs.

 

Sweet find. Thats a great price too. The Access Cab is a better looking body style and half the price as the 4 door.

One clean looking ride you bought yourself there!

 

I say go for it. I just put Bilstein 5100's on my 2002 AC 4X4, and I love them. You can get even more lift on a 2WD (no front diff/CVD angles to worry about), if that's your thing. I am also going to have a Hellwig rear sway installed as soon as it comes in.

This would also be the time to have any worn out front-end parts replaced (steering rack, tie bar, sway bar, control arm bushings). Depending on what you need - that can get real pricey, real quick. But it sounds like yours may still be in good shape. Mine has 151K on it, and only needed steering rack and sway bar bushings.

I have one of those exact same bug deflectors - OEM Toyota, never installed, still in the package - that I bought with my truck in 2002. I never got around to installing it. Always wondered what it would look like. Now I know.
