    And so it begins..

    20160906_164130.jpg

The purpose of this top-mounted unit..
    - House several electronic accessories, such as dual-monitors
    - House rocker switch panels
    - Offer more storage room
    - Make real use of that "rubber pad" area (or at the very least provide it shade so electronics can be left there)

    Requirements..
    - Be sturdy; handle rugged offroad abuse
    - Be modular; multiple mounting points for future accessories
    - Have powered/wired lines
    - Not block the driver's view (unless you're like 5' tall where you can't even see over the hood regardless)
    - Look somewhat OEM
    - Maintain full functionality of the passenger-side airbag (ie. do not impede it)

Interesting idea. Did you get your inspiration from a HMMWV?

I was going to say, also to shade the glare on your radio, but went back and saw you already have something. What did you use to make that shade?

I honestly don't even know what the interior of a HMMWV looks like, haha.

    Just bought it off Amazon:
    https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B012PK0NRW/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1

It's not a perfect fit as there is a slight gap on the sides causing it to not sit flush against the trim completely but that doesn't really bother me. It helps so much with the glare, especially when using the backup camera in broad daylight.

The middle tray or "sled" is where your mount the radios.

I guess nothing happened. I want to make a custom shroud for a small tablet up top of the dash as well

I’ve been debating upgrading speakers and killing the center speaker. Would be cool to incorporate that into that storage area(under speaker cover)
