I just bought a 2019 SR5 and I am having the pre collision sensor problems that the 2018’s were having. It will automatically turn off and disable the cruise. It usually last around 10 minutes then it comes back on. I’ve had the truck for 2 weeks and it has happened about 6 times. Today it did it a couple of times in a row. The sensor is free from and dirt or debris. Called the dealership and I am bringing it in Monday and they are going to check it out and do something with the software. Has anyone else experienced this with the 2019 models?

I try not to buy vehicles with all of that tech that actually takes over or influences the vehicle itself. If I had to buy with that "safety" tech, I will just turn them off.

    Kanelakos,
I agree with you. The only problem is the off light is always illuminated when you turn these things off. Every time that you turn the vehicle off you have to go in and turn it off again the next time you start it up. It also seems to disengage the cruise control when the pre collision is off. I’ve heard that there is a way to use the regular cruise but I have not figured it out yet.

Can’t believe this isn’t fixed for the 19’s

Activate normal cruise by just holding down the cruise button.

Thanks TcTRD18, I did figure that out today. Hopefully it’s a one time visit for this issue tomorrow at the dealership. Surely they have seen it enough by now. Fingers crossed.

I can attest that it isn't fixed on the 19's. I've got right at 4k miles on mine and it has been going off on its own. Sometimes I can turn the truck off and back on and it will work fine the rest of the time I am driving it till I shut it off again. Going to the dealer this morning (if I can get the light to come on), shouldn't be a problem for that to happen and let them hook it up and see if they can get some kind of reading. Will let you all know what I find out.

There are no codes majority of the time. I had it fixed again last month. The tech had it connected looking for codes. It went from “PCS unavailable” to “malfunction see dealer” while connected and there were no codes the whole time.

Hate to hear that, have they replaced the sensor more than once on your truck? Since having it fixed again last month, have you had anymore problems with it? Thanks for the info.

I’ve had 4 sensors, a new camera and the whole safety harness replaced. Not including 3 trips to reset system and a couple calibrations.

Geez. I hope this is random. My 2019 has worked flawlessly. I hope it doesn't start having issues. Got 4,900miles on the clock at the moment.

They are going to replace the sensor Monday. I have my fingers crossed that this will take care of it, but I don't feel to confident about it. Time will tell.

Dont be surprised that is classic toyota. They are VERY slow to address gremlins like this. It took them three or four model years on the 3rd Gen tacoma to finally try and address the howling rear differential.

For what it's worth, my TSS works great. I had on false warning for a fraction of a second once last summer. They did have a software update for it, and so far so good.

Toyota doesnt know how to fix these problems. TSS was rushed to market to keep the Tundra relevant at the end of its lifecycle, and it’s clear that Toyota didn’t fully validate the system. They’re just guessing, replacing shit, and hoping the issues don’t come back. I used to troubleshoot heavy industrial equipment for a living, and I know bs when I hear it. I love my truck, but #personalexperience

I am on my third sensor since I bought my 2019 at the end of September. So far I haven't had any issues with this one other than heavy rain or sleet where I had to wipe it off which is understandable. It's been good for about 3 months so far. The dealership told me that they couldn't guarantee that this would fix it, they just replace it and hope for the best. They did say that Toyota is aware of it, however they haven't figured out a fix yet. They are instructed at this point to replace the sensor.
