Most Limited I see are MSRPed around $46-47k. Has anyone bought a new Limited w/ the TRD package Tundra for $40k or under? Wondering if it's better to wait till the end of the year, and try to get a deal, or get a used Tundra.

    Thanks,

I assume you're looking at double cabs? I wouldn't say $40k isn't doable but you're probably going to have to play some hard ball. Incentives are almost always better when the next model year is ready to come out, so that would definitely help you out if you waited. Good luck!

Like BuckWallace, I'll assume you mean double cab. I got my 19 non-limited, sr5 offroad for right at $40, that includes the "Convenience Package", the "SR5 Upgrade Package", and a spray in bed liner. I think the main thing the limited adds over those packages are the leather seats. Mine had been sitting on the lot for 6 months and they were eager to get rid of it. So yes, $40 might be doable, but might have to wait for year end, and then you might be lucky to find one with that particular set up, and in a color you like. I may have paid a bit more than I could have, but I got the exact packages and exact color I wanted.

Hmm, I would be needing a crewmax. Looks like $40 may be out of the question. :( I need leather seats cause I have kids, plus I'll need the dual climate control.

Yeah, the same truck I have in crewmax is going for 2k more than mine around here. They have a limited offroad crewmax at a local dealer for $46. That's a 50k msrp, 2380 in "dealer discounts", plus the $1500 rebate. This dealer usually has pretty low pricing to start with, you might be able to negotiate another 1k off that, $1500 at best. Even at $2k off that, you're looking at $44.

That's the worse part about wanting to buy a Tundra, dealers won't negotiate much at all. It's temping to get a Dodge Ram for over $10k off. But, I'm still planning on the Tundra, someway, somehow.

Discount off MSRP is how the big 3 trick you in to thinking you got a great deal. Toyota does not mark their vehicles up as much plain and simple. 15% is a good discount on a Tundra versus 20s on big 3. People would tell me Tundras cost more which is not true. I got several price quotes on Silverados and all were higher than Tundra. You can always get some good seat covers and tell the wifey to close her vents when her she gets cold.

I bought my 2017 Limited TRD Off Road in March of 2017 I believe the door jamb sticker shows built in Feb so it hadn't been just sitting there. Sticker was $47 I paid $43.5

Yea, Limited crewmax, ur probably at 44-45k. Feb is a good month to buy tho (at least in my previous deals it has). Might could check out a few dealers in neighboring towns with some leftover 18's.

Last week I talked my dealer down to $41k on a double cab limited. It can be done.

You might at the end of this year or beginning of next with around 25k miles on it. I did that last year on a 17 that was on the road for 10 months and had 21.5k miles.

I don't know much about the Limited. I recently bought my 2018 Double Cab 5.7 4x4 with the SR5 Upgrade Pkg, TRD Off Road Package, Plastic Bed Liner, Weather Mats, Wheel Locks, Rear tail gate infill and maybe some other small options. I got her Thanksgiving day weekend so there were plenty of 19's on the lot. But this dealer had 5 18's when I visited on Black Friday. The MSRP was $42,500. I got a $7500 discount. No financing though. So it is possible to get a good deal. By the way he sold a Black CC one on Friday when I came to have a look. I took mine on Saturday and when I came back Sunday to pick up my other vehicle only 1 of the 5 was left. Actually that one is still there but now the $3000 cash back is gone so it will be a hard sell. Regarding MSRP prices I wouldn't put much into the numbers on the sticker. It's all make believe, just like property assessment values in Chicago/Cook County. It has nothing to do with what dealers have invested in that vehicle. The domestic 3 seem to over inflate the MSRP on their trucks just so they can claim they are giving you a $10k to $13K discount. Pleeez spare me.

I stopped by a dealership last weekend...and yes they will not budge on price. I asked the salesperson if they were busy. She said...we've never been this slow. Some dealerships will have to give in eventually. Or just wait for people to pay top dollar ...i guess

I have a local dealer with a still new 2017 CC TRD Off Road. I told him I was interested but he would have to be willing to "really" deal. He was stuck at his $37,500 bottom line. I passed and its still sitting there 4 months later. He may as well put that one in long term storage and hope that in 30 years, when everything is electric or hybrid, someone will want the dinosaurs as a conversation piece. I can just imagine what the peanut gallery will say on BaT when they list it up. No special financing, no incentives, no deal.

My brother inlaw is a pretty tough negotiator. He has a dealer at 41 on a Limited 19 Crewmax TRD . He wants to go 39 but they cannot come to an agreement yet .

He told me today they went down to 46 for a Platnium . I paid 45 for my Limited with TRD duals. II fee like a putz now. Next time I'll have him get me my deal .

I bought my 19 DC Limited in December $47,700 MSRP, out the door was a little over $40k. I get the vehicle for true dealer cost minus the incentive and holdbacks. Any dealer selling a limited DC or CM for $40k is making a killing on your trade or losing money. Dealers don't lose money.

These are all good responses. Thanks fellas. If I have to pay more than $40, say $41, or so I'd still be okay. I do have some money in savings, although the wife doens't want me to dip into that.

Right now there is a 1794 for $49k at a local dealership. I ideally want the folding mirrors, so if they came down to like $42k or $43k on a 1794, I would go for it.

If I can't do that though, I'll settle for a Limited crew max 4x4 for $41, or 42k. Only problem is I would regret not getting the platinum or 1794.

Why not look at a certified Tundra with low miles? You could still get the extended warranty if you do so. Contact Jennifer Taylor @ wolverine Toyota for a Platinum Warranty. If it is 3 yrs or less....I believe. You could get the 1794 you want, have low miles, and a warranty to boot, and for the same price as you want to pay.

    low miles on these

Whatever you do, do not dip in to your emergency fund or over extend yourself. I see too many 1 year trucks and boats for sale. Normally when someone is selling a toy that new it is not because they want to.

My honest opinion is get what you want...at the end of the day no regrets.
First I wanted a sr5 crewmax 4x4. But then I wanted sunroof, leather and other options the sr5 didn’t offer and if it did come with it then i figure i might as well just go up from sr5 to platinum or pro. Then I wanted a pro but the dealers wouldn’t budge and the pro didn’t have some power options I wanted. So I ended up getting a platinum which I’m happy with. Besides suspension which I can alway add on, I can’t add the power options. And leather is a must if you have young kids. Got a good deal here in California for my 2019. Had 5 dealerships fighting for my business

You are right, Fawker! Those are some great links. It's basically getting a brand new 1794 but at a new Limited price. That one 1794 w/ the Platinum 20" wheels looks awesome. I'd be okay with a Limited, in inside I know that I really want either Platinum or a Tundra. I will try to see what dealers will go down for prices in December, but if not, I'll be looking to buy something like those two links you provided.

    Thanks!

I go on autotrader and look at Platinum tundras in the color I want and with low miles. You can specify anything on there. Lots of good deals imo. Wish you the best!

Bilstein 5100's all around, top setting up front. Nitto Grappler G2's.
I waited until the end of 2018 and picked up a 2018 SR5 CM, 5.7L, SR5 Convenience and Upgrade packages, Entune premium audio with integrated navigation/app suite, spray on bed liner, bed rails kit, weathertec matts for $35k. The sticker was $43k but there were lots of incentives at the time, it had sat on their lot for a while and I was paying cash (financed thru my credit union). It was my second color choice (silver instead of cement) but still a great deal. I think waiting until the end of the year or trying to find any remaining 2018 stock is your best bet.

I have three kids and have had leather in a Suburban and an Expedition and actually prefer the cloth now in the Tundra. The leather does better with stains but worse with rips/tears (especially if you keep your cars for a long time as we do).

You could get close to 40k if you work multiple dealers against each other and wait until Sept time frame when 2020 Tundras are hitting lots. Toyota dealers will be far more willing to deal then. I got my loaded SR5 TRD OR crewmax 4x4 for 39k out the door in August and sticker on it was 47,800. Could always consider leather seat covers like Katzskins I hear good things about them. What are you really getting on a limited vs. a well-equipped SR5? Climate control? Leather seats? I had climate control on many vehicles and still end up dicking with it all the time based on outside temps/weather. Climate control is a farce. Leather can be added with custom seat covers for reasonable costs....I didnt care for the look of the interior on the limited...not enough contrast in color...the leather and interior panels all look the same to me.

I was really looking at a dodge before I bought my tundra. Got my 19 Lim (priced at 48.. I got leather, fat ass gas tank, dual zone, spray in liner, front bumper step, fender flares (painted to match) sunroof, shitty speakers, lame outdated radio with XM, and no power pedals. All total was 43,500 plus TT&L. Would I buy it again...no. Will I keep it for 15 plus years?? sure... The limited package is just that... limited. I would expect more tech inside and not the dated or lack there of tech. I'd hoped to have seen power pedals and folding mirrors for the "limited" moniker. I guess limited in japan means not very much included. I like my truck and am happy with the towing aspect, but after having Ford, Chevy, Mazda, GMC in both gas and diesel...I'm more tech driven and need it for towing so I'm gonna let this Toyota run its course but will pass on the next tundra for something more current and updated to todays truck battle.
