I will do videos on dash speakers tomorrow.it has presented me with plenty of questions so it may answer some for others or it may not.

 

What size connectors and splices do you recommend?

 

He sends you splices and plenty of them you just need to buy female spade connectors

 

Buying mine right now and will start dash install in about an hour

 

Did you need any additional speaker wire? I’m about to tear into this...

James sent me about 12 ft of speaker wire. I asked him what it was for. He said it was for the center speakers to feed over to the side dash speakers. I have the premium JBL. I am confused about that but I haven't opened anything up yet. I received the infinity speakers too so I'll either solder the connection or use spade connectors. I plan on painting the fiber board mounts before installing in the doors. My truck is brand new and I plan on having it for a long time and think the fiber board will hold up longer by coating the surface. Moisture is not friendly to that composite. OCD rules.

 

I understood the wire that comes with the jbl's I'll do a video today on it to explain. One goes to stock harness other runs down dash under console to under pass seat for new amp coming.

 

I feel less than, waiting for everyone else to post experience but in this case, I am a willing spectator.
Thanks to everyone for the posts. The factory tweeter dismemberment was particularly genius.

 

Not genius. Product of my laziness. I did not want to make jumpers or cut and butt connect. I made an educated guess and got lucky.

 

Mother if invention = necessity.

 

I didn't receive any additional speaker wire, just the adaptors for the door speakers. I ended up cutting the spade connectors off of the center tweeter crossovers, and used butt connectors to connect to the factory harness. About to throw these in and tackle the 3.5" tweeters.

which color wire is positive on the 3.5 factory wire harness? And which side is positive on the tweeter?

 

green is positive on the factory and the fatter spade is labeled positive on the infinity

Self tapping that screw closest to the windshield gonna suck. Gonna have to by a 90 for my drill

 

What I ended up doing was awful and ugly but worked. I refuse to post it for the world to see

 

It is cleaner sound than stock 3.5 but much quieter

3.5 dash speakers wiring video

 

I had a pop when turning on ignition. James advised to remove capacitor and it indeed got rid of the pop so I no longer have the capacitor.
