This morning when I left the cabin up in NW AZ (it was 17 degrees), after a few minutes I got a bunch of error messages. The dash cycles through; Pre-collision System Malfunction, Cruise Control Malfunction, and Trailer Brakes Malfunction. I have not used the trailer brakes for months, but these messages flashed at me all the way from Seligman to Mesa, AZ (200 miles).
I guess I’ll head to the dealer in the morning. Any ideas?

When you get freezing water on the sensors it reaks havoc on your system

Well, I’m back here in Phx where its warm. Do the sensors just need reset now, because its still showing all the errors.

@Bappa I've seen other members mention this same issue and that the dealer can fix relatively quick and easy.
If i remember correctly, there's a software update that fixes it.

TRD Air Filters, Front door windows tinted to match the rears. Wheel locks, Talons Garage cat shield, Tyger Automotive soft tonneau cover, WeatherTech floor mats with Tuff Skinz Custom Emblem kit, Toyota OEM Emblem Black Out kit. AVS vent covers on all four doors, Red Tundra letters on front bumper & TRD highlighted in Red on front grille. Tailgate Tundra Letters in Black.
    Yep

    that’s why I bought a 2017.

I was curious of how freezing slush caking the front of my Tundra would make the sensors react.

They worked on it for 2 hours and could not figure it out. They told me its probably the FRAC system and that I had to remove it before they would go any farther.

Haha.....What? I highly doubt the cold has anything to do with it. I haven't seen a temp above +10f in a few weeks, last week it was -37f in the morning and my truck started and ran just fine, no goofy lights.

I don’t have this system. But from what I’ve read it may have something more to do with snow or ice covering the sensors.

That's a possibility. My wife's 13' Avalon Hybrid Limited did this during the last major snowstorm when she was driving on the interstate. So I can see how this may be an issue. But the OP said he was back into the city where it was warm and still has the error codes.

I saw that. And the dealer couldn’t figure it out either.

Bummer.....I’m in a real cold climate as well and have had numerous incidents where ice and snow is covering a sensor or the windshield and I get RCTA off errors and cruise errors- but they clear as soon as I check the sensors and brush them off, or restart the truck.

I just took the entire FRAC system out; harness, cables and camera. It is completely stock for my dealership appointment tomorrow. When they still cant figure it out, I’ll try not to say I told you so.
However, if this is going to be an issue every time I need warranty work, then I’m questioning whether I’ll reinstall the FRAC system.

I bought it at Earnhardt at Superstition Springs. They have been good with me for years. I took my Tacoma there too.
