The service tech called it the Wiper Cowl. It's the plastic piece between the hood and the windshield, from which the wiper posts stick out of.

So, the dealership replaced the wiper cowl, and...it did nothing. Squeak still present.

They're sending it to the body shop to reseal the windshield. Honestly, at this point, I think they're just guessing. I really hope it gets resolved. The squeak is very loud, and is driving me crazy.

These are just squeaky trucks. I've got a new rattle around my shift column now.

There is a Toyota Service Bulletin regarding this, old but still relevant. See below. A fellow member had a 2016 Tundra, he snipped the passenger stopper clip on the windshield and he said it worked. I don't know if this applies to you but you can look at PDF.

That's actually the next thing they're going to do. They're going to re-seal the windshield, which involves taking the windshield off and playing around with those 4 posts that locate the windshield. The dealerships's bodyshop is going to perform the service.

I think your right but my snapping and crackling noise seems to be coming from the TPPS camera to the right of the piece you are holding. I took mine off like you did but it did not make a difference. I wonder if that TPPS slides off so i can have a look.

The 02’ is as quiet as the day she rolled off the lot. Nice fitment on everything still, except for the window track bolts needing tightening due to a rattle when partially rolled down. Easy fix with a 10mm socket.

My newer Tundra buddies complain about these same squeaks as you guys.

I've got a 2014 Tundra SR5 with 76,000 miles and its making a high pitched squeak coming from the passenger side foot well area under the dash or behind the dash. It only makes the noise when driving on rough roads that vibrate the truck. I can hit a speed bump and hear nothing, but vibrations or quick oscillations will almost always produce the sound. I've removed the glove box and all surrounding panels and I still cant figure out what's causing it. I've had a friend drive me around while I listened for it, but nothing I grabbed stopped the noise. I'm probably going to pull of the front right fender liner and see if there's something that could be causing the noise.

Check your fuse and all other covers under the hood. Mine got loose. Was bugging the crap out of me. Till I found that's what it was.

2016 here. As with the OP, mine is an annoying squeak from the passenger side dash area. No exhaust or radio volume could drown this out. Of course I check the forum and glad to see I'm not the only one. Just started since it has gotten cold. Going to check some of the solutions above and will advise. Best forum ever!

Mine was the blower motor hitting the plastic panel below the glove box. Popped it off, wedged some foam in between blower motor and panel, no more rattle.

Blower motor itself is squeaking now

Constant ticking sound from my 19 with only 2k. Seemed like it was coming from the dash but today I found it. It was that damn radar plastic gizmo glued to the windshield by the rearview mirror. Out of desperation I pushed on it gave it a twist and with a bit a pressure on it the noise stopped.

The wife did say her arm was getting tired on the way home so guess I'll have to wedge something under it. God I hate noises like that in my truck.

I had the squeak coming from the passenger side dash area for as long as I remember; it didn't get on my nerves until my wife (and daughter) pointed it out (I don't have the best hearing due to an old Army "training accident" ).

I just so happened to replace the cabin air filter this past weekend...in doing so, noticed that the outer (hard plastic) cover was loose/cockeyed.

Noise is gone (as far as I can hear )

Thanks for passing this along. I changed mine not too long ago so am going to check. However, I still feel mine is the coming from the spot where the dash makes contact with the (A?) frame/side panel that has the Oh S*** handle thingy. It's getting bad since it's been colder. Seems to go away after the truck sits in the sun during the day.

Being pretty much deaf does have some slight rewards.
(I don’t really care what little kids say anyway)

My ‘17 is quiet...I should probably just keep the wife out of my truck!

Yeah it does (I have moderate tenitus) helps with sleeping too; permanent white-sound machine! ...courtesy of a poorly-timed AT4 volleyfire from a trigger-happy foxhole-mate.

If I tried that with my wife, it would not only be more quiet...but cleaner too!

My 18 CM rattled since day 2. One I recently fixed was that plastic clicking sound coming from windshield/dash. My wiper cowl/ plastic part that loose. The 2 plastic fasteners under the hood do not hold it tight. At all. Used black zip ties to hold it down and still had room to put the fasteners back in. Noise stopped.

Thought I would add my fix to this thread!

check up near where the dash trim/plastic meets the windshield may have to push some foam or something in there to shim it. Had the same issue on my Tacoma the foam fixed it.

On my 07 when I had the dash out for a heater box replacement I realized that you could just pull the glove box out and shove foam up under the edge of the dash where it meets the windshield, there is a small lip there. There was actually already foam on the 07 around the driver side but none on the passenger so I shimmed it up to fix the sagging dash issue. I need to do this on the 17 because when it's cold it's dash squeaks in the same location on the passenger side where the dash meets the bottom of the windshield, and it's apparent that it's not level all the way across.

My '17 has the same/similar rattle on the passenger side. So far - Not the A-pillar, Not the ECM, Not the glove box, pollen filter, rear-view mirror, dash/windshield interface, heater core pipes... Driving me nuts! Need to explore under the hood now but much harder.

Taking mine into the dealership tomorrow morning. Had a rattle last winter they fixed by the rearview mirror. New rattle seems to be coming from passenger side and it's driving me nuts. I can see dealing with a noise if I had a 2000 tundra not an 18 with 10,000 miles. Hopefully it gets fixed tomorrow. I'll report back the findings if fixed.

    :fingerscrossed:

2020 Tundra with 2000 miles. When the temps drop, the truck cracks and rattles in both front doors close to the A pillars. My 2003 4Runner with 200000 miles was much quieter. Too bad the frame rotted

Posted this before but my 17 CM squeaks and rattles more than my 1998 4Runner did 19 years on the road.

My 2020 was the same, checked everything and finally found it was outside. Look where the top of the fender meets the outside pillar. As the truck flexes there is a slight movement between the fender and the pillar. I opened up the passenger door and used some spray grease applied to the top of the fender. Noise is gone.

Time to look at mine and see if that's where it's coming from

I got rid of the drivers side with a little piece of foam on the dash/windshield. It didn't work for the passenger side and it's driving me nuts
