how do I make stainless bolts black?

    I tried to do my own mod and change the grill bulge and surround to put in NSV light bar, dropped my mesh grille in the process and popped out a wire from the grille lights. Packed it up and had it installed.
    I would love to get the bolts around the mesh grille blacked but it looks like the grille would need to come out for that. At the right time late maybe, not yet.

    Seriously... I fell off the roof yesterday cleaning gutters and THEN the ladder bottom slid out when I was crawling back up there. And then I ripped off a nail coiling up an extension cord.

    So on this grille, it’s all bolted together and then bolted to the grille shell. It weighs... probably close to 35ish pounds. I’m leary of any nylon bolts although that is a brilliant idea!

    I can see in my mirrors that the axle is down with them. I get to drive my BFRT all day, then drive home in the best pickup I have ever had. Life is good!

    Hey thanks to all of you that gave me advice! And sorry to those I offended. I am going to pull a bolt tomorrow and verify size and speak with ekstrom and the Route 66 people. Seems to be the best option out there.

    My local ACE has an amazing fastener section that puts HD/Lowe's to shame. Been there since the 60's. My ACE would have those 6mm's in black and also black nylon washers.

    How about drill a hole in the bottom of a cup same size as the bolt head. Or whatever material you find necessary. Place that over each bolt and spray it lightly with black paint. Hit each one individually. You might have to have a few templates made up as each one will start to get too wet with paint. Just a thought.

    Pro bolt USA Carrie's a good variety I purchased some but only in gloss black they dont seem to have flat black or matte black so I'm trying to get some from David at Ekstrom

    ok so they are 1/4-20x1 button head allen. I need about 84 of them.... gloss black. so I probably would buy 90 or 100 if that is how they sell them. I also need the corresponding black washers. I emailed the route 66 people just now... they didn't have the washers listed on their site. Ekstrom.... you got anything that could help me out in that department?

    Sir those are black oxide coated stainless... I am not sure of the durability of the black oxide finish. Can anyone comment on that?

    Route66 has that size on their site, the drop down menu. These are the fender flare bolts, flat black bolt with flat black washer and original steel.
