The beaches down at South Padre are much nicer than Galveston, IF you have the time to drive further down the state.

That's a 31 hour drive from my house, its doable.
Does it have all those bugs and stuff like Galveston?

I’m not 100% sure, but cleaner and nicer beaches for sure. Most of those bugs he listed don’t reside on the beaches just all around Tx. There’s even a section of beach you can drive on called PINS (Padre island nationals seashore)

Agree. PINS and South Padre are nicer than Galveston. Florida panhandle beaches are still tops, though. If you go down PINS to camp, be careful with the tide. Had a friend whose truck got caught in it when he parked it close to the water. Also had another friend who got stuck real bad in the sand about 20-30 miles in, even with 4x4.

Sometimes there are mosquitoes, incredibly even with a sea breeze. Further inland and more marshland you’ll find those bastard deer flies. A few times I got chased by them at the Ocean Springs beach along the Mississippi coast, but that was in May and June, not August. Haven’t seen them along any of the Texas beaches, just inland near marsh/wetlands. Some folks claim to have gotten bitten by little sand mites. I’ve never seen or been bitten by those, though.

We are working very hard on our own website to make it easier for new and existing members to make swag purchases and for newly interested parties to sign up and become an official member.
