I just purchased this set up yesterday and will hopefully get some pics up of the install later once it arrives. I am using the seat mount instead of mounting something on the dash or side of center console for a couple reasons. One, the knee airbag under the steering wheel could launch a weapon into the vehicle if ever deployed in a wreck (your knees would block the airbag from doing this with this mount). And my knee leans over against the center console frequently so I didn't want anything there (plus not super crazy about putting holes in my truck). I am using the square mount they offer inside my center console safe. Currently have a magnet and not crazy about it (to each their own I know they are popular). With this set up i can keep the weapon holstered in the shell and transfer it from safe to the seat mount without even having to reholster. They sell a IWB holster that the shell can be attached to when leaving the truck, or place back in the safe if going into a building or place that doesn't allow guns. Personally I don't use a holster I just tuck my weapon into my waist (I don't carry one chambered, yeah I know the dangers but with small nosy kids I like the extra protection and I practice chambering a round with every draw, 10 practice draws a day for muscle memory) The system also has other expansion kits that I like such as the molle mount, the back pack mount and others.

I don't want my gun where anyone can see it--whether it's on my person--or in my truck. I am thinking about buying this and mounting it on the inside of the console at the very back. My tray sits mostly forward, so there is room. It will handle a variety [all] of my EDC handguns.

I looked at that very line myself but the issue with any of that style of holster is that it mounts below the steering wheel directly in line with the knee airbag. In the event of deployment I don't want it to become a projectile. I have the same center console safe as @Wvmoonshiner and will store my gun in it when it can't be carried. With the strap holster I posted I have a secure the place to keep the gun while driving. The only time it really needs to be covered in that position is driving through states that have those odd "keep em covered" laws. In that case I would either put it the console safe or put a towel or something over it (I am lucky enough to spend all of my time driving in states that honor reciprocity of my CCP.

And thanks for the name compliment I just finished a nice bourbon barrel aged stout and headed to bed! Cheers!

Yeah, that's a good point and a real problem that I hadn't considered.

I like your rig for accessibility. It's just that, even though I support law enforcement, with all the craziness going on in the country right now and cops on edge, I don't REALLY want to have a loaded gun between my legs, if I am ever pulled over.

Weighing the risk-reward ratio, I am more concerned about running into that lone, idiot cop [there's one in every profession] than I am about having my gun out of sight but 2 more seconds away.

P.S. In regards to your stout, I can only say, "Beer never annoys, doesn't ask silly questions. Beer UNDERSTANDS!"

Okay I finally got my driver defense system holster mount mounted tonight. The safe pic is still the magnet mount but I am taking it out and replacing it with the square mount tomorrow night. I can now leave my gun in the holster while I drive then put the whole holster in the safe while at work. Then when I exit my truck I can remove it from the holster tuck it in my waist as usual and go about my business. The pic of the seat mount makes the gun look closer to my legs then it actually is. My legs are in the same natural position they always are when I drive. The gun is locked into the holster and only removable by depressing a lock on the holster. Drawing the gun is quick and automatically puts the barrel towards the door/window (where the vast majority of threats would occur) IMG_20190219_225405.jpg IMG_20190219_230315.jpg IMG_20190219_214742.jpg in a second or less. So far I am very happy with this setup.IMG_20190219_225405.jpg IMG_20190219_230315.jpg IMG_20190219_214742.jpg
