Just watched this long interview with Mike Sweers and really enjoyed it. Thought I would share.
He talks about the 4runner, taco, sequoia, and Tundra and some overall market trends. After Watching this interview I am almost 99% sure the next gen Tundra is going to be a hybrid. I know alot of people have speculated that with the spy shots and such but the way he talks about a hybrid system at the very end has me convinced that is what they are going to go for.

I'm actually kind of excited to see the capabilities. I think I will almost be disappointed if it is not a hybrid.

Toyota knows how to do a hybrid. The Prius is the most reliable vehicle on the road according to several publications. The Camry hybrid gets 52 MPG. A hybrid system in a Tundra would be just fine, as long as it still have the same equivalent HP and torque available when you need it.
I would prefer hybrid over cylinder de-activation any day. Also hybrid over small displacement turbo any day.

I’m against the small displacement turbo as well. I still think it would be cool to see a 4.6 L with a turbo. I think you can get some pretty good gas mileage if you kept your food out of it. They won’t do it though.

I would be more in favor of cylinder deactivation than a turbo. Turbo stresses an engine while deactivation would save wear. I dream about a hybrid tundra with cylinder deactivation getting 25+mpg....probably not possible but I can dream.

I guess hybrid is actually some type of cylinder deactivation - shuts all of them off when in EV mode. I agree with that.

Toyota hopefully will match the F150 Limited numbers 450/510.
