That's not a PRO. Thats a typo. That appears to be an SR5 with rims and tires.

Listing found on Facebook, appears to be a private seller near ATL. Good luck, man. Hate that about the dealer shenanigans. Sounds like it may have been the other dealership that pulled the rug rather than your local one though.

Good find. Thats the one, although they could come down a little on that price.
And yes, the dealer in VA is the one that is playing this stupid game.

I worked for a dealership (Lithia owned) and I can tell you straight from the horse’s mouth that it’s starts at the friggin Alan Ram training and gets worse from there. They basically tell you it doesn’t matter if you don’t have the car don’t even bother checking if you can avoid it. Your #1 goal is to get them to the dealership. Whether you have the car or not is irrelevant. I refused to play their game and caught flack for it but I’m sorry, I’m not gonna tell someone to drive 3 hours for a specific vehicle if it isn’t there anymore and if it’s in the middle of getting sold. I’m not that kind of asshole and I have to live with myself at night. If it cost us a sale oh well....I wasn’t gonna be a lying bastard. Thank God it was an interum temp job only. Never again.

All that said, I’ll only ever buy in person at a dealer. I know the vehicle is there, I can drive it, touch it, etc. I’m not persuaded by the sales tactics and if I don’t like the vehicle and nothing else is of interest, I walk. When I bought my truck I knew it was on the lot, I knew how much I wanted to spend out the door and how much down. Walked in, wife and I test drove, I looked it over and made sure everything worked, sat down and said $19k out the door, $2k down. Make that happen or I walk. 10 minutes later I was signing papers

They aren't called stealerships for no reason.
Integrity is something that one can't sell or buy. And once you lose it, you're pretty much never going to get it back.

You have been one lucky man. Have heard very negative feedback from Hendrick in Charlotte and Cary.

My brother in law and sister both attempted to purchase vehicles from Hendrick in Cary. Both of them walked and purchased Toyotas elsewhere. I've heard the Raleigh area Hendrick isnt too great, but personally i've never dealt with them

I may be lucky. I have family and and good friends who have been n the business for years. I have educated myself and I deal with managers at first. They eventually assign a sales person to do the paperwork, but I only talk numbers with the manager, a lot of the time by phone first. I have sent in referrals who have had good experiences and purchases which has so far always been remembered.

They will continue to win my business until they fail me.

That sucks. That's why signing a "letter of intent" is just a game they play to make you think you're locked in. The only thing that would legally hold up is a purchase contract, as is evident by them just tossing your letter of intent in the trash as soon as a better offer came along. I hate dealers, if you can't tell.

I don't remember, it was a couple years ago. I think it was in 2016 and it is a 2014 Camry, with about 20,000 miles. It looked like a typical 2-year lease return. It was spotless, looked like a brand new car inside.

A co-worker’s wife just started selling cars at a local Toyota Dealership. The training she is getting further pushes me to get my auto sales & brokers license in a couple years.

Personally, the only positive, simple buying experiences I have had:

Subaru. The sales staff get a flat commission of 100.00 per car sold. After 25 cars sold in a 30 day period, Subaru gives a bonus to salesman (around 2500 plus bonuses per car after the 25 vehicles sold).

Audi/Lexus. Both of these local dealerships really focus on your car buying experience. These brands are expensive, and they make you feel comfortable about the large purchase.

GMC/Buick dealership in Littleton, CO. By far, I have never experienced a better vehicle buying experience. In and out in 1 hour. It took longer to detail and fuel truck than purchasing.

This isn’t the first or last time something like this has happened. Dealerships don’t like transferring stock or doing trades unless there’s something for them on the back side. If you would have been trying to buy a Toyota Corolla, there probably wouldn’t be an issue. These are not high sought after vehicles with low quantity (like the Pro). This very thing happened to me, and I even had all paperwork signed with VIN, had a $30k down payment check, and 4 days later still had no truck. I voided the contract on the fifth day. I should have made them get “my” truck. I really enjoyed tearing up that large down payment check right in front of the sales manager. Felt great! What even felt more satisfying was the assistant sales manager getting fired right in front of me. To top it off, I even had this dealership do the first two free services.

Personally, I would keep your limited, spend 2k on some King Shocks and have a nicer, all around better truck...but that’s just me.

I’m sure I’m missing part of the story but why don’t you contact the dealership directly? You may not want to at this point because they are obviously giving you the run around and that’s another thing. I guess it depends on how badly you want it. I had to drive 4 hours for mine. It was worth it. Good luck.

^^^^^ This. Either call the other dealer directly to inquire about the truck or have someone call for you to see if they tell them the truck is there.
Then you know exactly what is going on.

Only reason i havent contacted them directly, is they are 4 1/2 hours away, and technically, if the truck is in the same dealer group, they should be able handle this. At this point im probably walking away anyway. Too much BS. I already have a bad taste in my mouth with that dealer in VA.

Already done that by 2 diff people from unsuspecting phone #'s. The truck is confirmed there. That dealer is just being shady. Ad is still posted on Hendrickcars.com, Hendrickchevybuickgmcrichmond.com, and on facebook marketplace.
    This dealer really sucks.

The funny thing is when I told the sales manager that we had an agreement; he said that there was no agreement for that specific vehicle; the agreement was only on the negotiated price. I asked him to explain that, and then he realized that what he said did not make any sense. I should have picked out a nice Tundra then and since he told me that we had negotiated on $13,600 but it was not for the Camry; I guess it would apply to any vehicle then. The problem is that he felt like an ass for making such a statement and then his defense mode was to get angry; for some reason he started yelling at me like it was my fault. I did not have to get into a yelling match with him, there are enough other dealers in the area. I ended up buying a similar Camry at another dealer, and my son could not be happier.

I would walk away from that deal. Even if you get the truck you will always have that bad taste, and what if there is something wrong with the vehicle and you have to deal with that...you will hate the truck. If the buying experience is good and something goes wrong it is much easier to deal with.

Sorry to hear it man, that's sucks. I'm in sales(construction) and car dealerships make me sick, the people that "sell" cars give all other sales professionals a bad name. It's not a transaction that is good for or helps the end customer, the dealers are only looking out for themselves. I hate purchasing vehicles, first thing I say when the sales manager comes for the press is "I'm in sales keep your pitch to yourself" and just get up and walk when they try anyway. I have a tundra and 4runner, both are not commodity vehicles and the dealers kniow it, they know they have what you want and there are not a ton out there. My local hendrick toyota dealer told me the one I wanted at another dealer 2.5 hours west was no longer available...I walked out front called them and ended up buying it from the other dealer a week later...cant wait to go get my 1st oil change at the local hendrick and give the manager a visit while there...keep that limited, get some color matched parts and shocks...they will be better than the ones on the pro anyway, then drive by the dealer and give them the finger.
