So i'll keep this short as possible. Im 13 months in to ownership of my 2018 Limited cm. I found a 2017 TRD PRO cm in that cement color at a dealership about 4 hours from home. My local Toyota dealer is part of the same group (Hendrick). I instantly called my dealer and spoke with my salesman about a trade and getting the truck brought to my local Toyota dealer. After a few hours of talking, we worked out a deal and i handed over my credit card to pay for transfer fee. We actually gave them asking price for the PRO. The buyers order from my dealer had already been sent and in about 2/3 days i would be picking up my used PRO and handing over my truck and signing all paperwork...
    ...THEN...
...my salesman calls about 3 hours later saying that the dealer with PRO "cant find the keys" & "they sold already"...? Does that make sense. ????
To make matters worse, my salesman called the dealer with the PRO from his personal cell asking for availability and pics. A salesman from that dealer confirmed the PRO is available and sent pics!! WTF..Caught in a lie red handed!!. At this point i believe the local GM is getting involved here, but not sure of what the outcome will be, but Hendrick Automotive is huge in the Southeast, this is bad business to say the least but im not giving up on them yet, as my local Toyota guys are pissed too...has anyone on here encountered shit like this before???

Sounds like a royal goat rope. I bought my Tundra from a non Hendrick dealer intentionally. I wish you good luck but I am thinking that truck is gone.

Im thinkin the same thing. The ads are still up though, in 3 places. My local Hendrick dealer has always been good to me...But...

A little of this and a little of that.

Are you willing to travel for one? Maybe another dealer across country?

Yeah i would, guess thats what i would have to do. I wanted to make it easy and have my local dealer bring one in from another Hendrick lot, but u see how thats working out.

Did you buy your original truck from this dealer? If so, I'd try the "So what are you going to do for me here? I am losing faith in the Hendrick franchise, blah blah blah" routine and see where that leads.

Already did that. To top that off, i've bought 5 trucks from my dealer over the years. 2 4runners, 2 tundras and 1 tacoma...i think my salesman cares, just not sure if the GM or sales mngr does. This whole thing is F'd up.

Patience. Another one will come along. This happens more than you think. You still have a great truck. Wouldn’t let it bother you. But I understand.

Will never purchase from Hendrick...have heard several complaints about them. Hopefully you get things worked out. Keep us informed and hopefully you get that PRO.

I'm guessing the other dealership decided they didn't want to trade and wanted to keep the Pro and sell it themselves. Before I bought my Pro, I was looking at an SR5 that had a couple of options you don't typically see, my dealership couldn't get them to trade, finally they decided on a trade, they supposedly went to pick it up and when they got to the dealership, the truck had been sold. I ended up driving 3.5 hours to buy my Pro that day.

The-Flim-Flam-Man-George-C-Scott-s-Costume-3.jpg You are dealing with Car Salesmen! When their lips move they lie. They probably got 99$ more elsewhere and stiffed you. Most Salesmen have credit card debts from Christmas still and would sell their soul to make a buck. I always buy in Jan-Feb less competition. I'll quote Mortecai Jones: " Never trust a car salesman any further than you can spit against a hurricane"

As hard as it may be, get your money refunded and walk away.

If the deal is going to start out this way, it will only get worse.
Dealerships want to play their little games and it's up to you to put a stop to it.

Bait and switch maybe. Ad is up to attract attention, and then sell you a different one.

Only reason it makes me think that is because you agreed on asking price then got the run around. Then your salesman bit on the bait and they ran with it. It probably would have "fallen through" again if he persued it. They get people emotionally attached to buying a bait truck, then try to sell them a different one that they need to move off the lot.

I have had a similar experience. I saw a beautiful Camry on the floor and decided to buy it for my son who just got his license. We negotiated, they came down about a $1,000 and I signed a letter of intent and put a deposit down. I told them I wanted my wife to come see the car before I finish the rest of the paperwork, just out of respect to her and so we can say that "we" bought him the car. That evening after work I took my wife to the dealership and the car was gone. Long story how it all unfolded, but basically someone else offered them more money so they just ignored my signed letter and deposit. Like I said, long story that I am not getting in the detail that makes it even more interesting, but just the idea that they ignored my deal with them to get that extra buck. They will never see my business again.

Dealerships suck period. I once called one across town to check on a used truck, they "verified" it was still there and were expecting me. I got there and it was nowhere to be found. They tried to tell me it was sold and gone all within 45 minutes. I called B.S. and let the manager know as well. He didn't seem to really care even as I told them that I would never consider their Dealership again and would go out of my was to tell others about what had happened.

The wife and I have bought 7 Honda’s and Toyota’s from Hendrick dealerships in the last nine years. Never an issue. All service has been done by them as well no issues. Was the dealership in Concord?

Not familiar with them but I bought a Tacoma from your dealer over the phone on a Friday and they delivered it to me in Charlotte on Monday. Did the paperwork at my dining room table. No surprises or issues. So I know your dealership is a good one. I would talk to you General Sales Manager perhaps he will search for the vehicle you were looking for.

The used car sales mngr said he was going work on it and to not give up on him. At this point, they said that Monday morning they are going to get the GM of the dealer involved. They did say that they would check around to see if there were anymore PROs for sale in the Hendrick market, but i dont think there was.

We had the same experience in November with an Avalon that we were trying to get for my wife. Everything was set up with the other dealership and when it was time for the transfer to take place, it was supposedly sold by the other dealership. So we ended up just ordering what she’s wanted and waiting for it. It’s like dealing with little kids when it comes to dealerships transferring cars.
