Hey guys. I am having my rear axle bearing replaced on the 08 Tundra. My usual mechanic whom could not find a press large enough to do the job) told me that there is a clip that is not included in the bearing kit he said I would probably have to order it separately from the dealership. I read on another Forum that there is a washer that is not included. Are they referring to the same part? I just want to make sure that the mechanic who is doing the repairs has all the necessary info so as not do the job wrong. Thanx

He is wrong. The berrings get pressed on as an assembly.

The only thing holding the axles in are the 4 bolts thru the axle flange.

Maybe it’s shims he’s talking about? Do shims have to be placed under the bearing to get the right preload?

No shims. The berring housing is bolted to the axle flange.

True, but you don't have to do anything with the punkin doing axle berrings.

If you think you need a pinion berring, then shims may be needed to adjust back lash.
