Hey all! I'm new here to Tundra Forums.

About 2 years ago a few of my instrument cluster back-lights went out. I ran to Walmart after a quick google search and replaced them with 194 leds. Install went great, and I have had no mechanical/electrical issues with this since. However, I am driving more at night again. The leds have been hurting my eyes, and causing glare on the windshield due to increase in lumens. The light reflects off of the top of the steering wheel trim piece between wheel, and cluster. (Is the technical term a "bezel"?)

Also, I am a very big OEM user. This being said it bugs me that the radio, HVAC console lights do not match.

    :annoyed:

Anyway, I have been googling for the last month or so where to find OEM 194s with the green rubber shade/filter on them to replace leds. I was hoping someone here may have some information, or perhaps a link. I cannot remember how many are in the cluster, but I did happen to remember that there is a smaller (74?) bulb with the green shade/filter as well.

    :fingerscrossed:

    Thanks in advance.

    Noah.:pccoffee:

    Hey Noah. Welcome!

Does your 02 not have the brightness adjuster knob to turn down the dash? I just went LED as well and turned my knob down quite a bit. Mine is an 02 also.

You can buy replacement bulbs at the dealership but they won't be cheap.

I personally think you'll hate going back to the green look. Let us know about the adjuster knob.

Yes, my tundra does have the dimmer switch. I just simply don't like using it. Lol. Maybe I could color my LEDs with a green sharpie.

I would stay away from the oem bulbs with the green vinyl covers. From what I understand, those are what ultimately caused the bulbs to overheat and go out prematurely. I found bulbs that were painted green at a local auto parts store 6 years ago. I'm unable to see a difference in tint, and still work fine.

I will try to source some that are not a "vibrant" green, but more like oem.

You could likely find someone wanting to go LED & just trade bulbs with them.
