    Hi All,

Has anyone had any issues with the fitment of secondary (color-matched) mirror caps? Specifically, the clips not registering in their respective spots?

I purchased a set of matched caps from Sparks Parts when I first got the truck. The original caps came off easy, and I re-installed them to get the method down. Then when trying to put the "new" ones on, it was a bear. They seemed to just flex and never go in place.

I finally got them to go on, after a careful amount of struggling, but the passenger side keeps popping off. I push it back into place, and a day later it's out again.... Just enough to bug the shit out of you as you look at it.

Any ideas on how to mitigate this? Has anyone dealt with a bad run of these mirror caps?

Last picture is the driver side, as it sits. Seems normal to me.

A little of this and a little of that.
I kinda had something like that happen when installing some mirror caps. One of the clips broke and it would sometimes “pop” off. DO you have a busted clip on the pass side?

I haven't looked, but nothing seemed to break/snap/pop when I installed.

A little of this and a little of that.

Neither did mine pop break snap. I just pushed a little too hard before making sure all the clips were lined up and the clips “bent”. Just food for thought... good luck.

If there are no broken clips I’d contact wherever you got them from and ask for a replacement.

Got mine from sparks as well and the fitment isn’t like factory either.

I have the same issue. Only on the inside line though. The outside, or leading edge is fine. They have been on for about 5k miles, never settled or popped off.

Also bought mine from Sparks. Im sure there is an official way to install them, maybe that would solve the issue.

A little of this and a little of that.

What about taking a heat gun and massaging them into place after they’re warmed up??

Mine did this, I smacked the heck out of it and it popped in and has not been a problem since.

Same here. I had to bludgeon them pretty solid with the palm of my hand. They popped right in place.

Same on mine, just had to squeeze it in and push harder. Tilt the mirror so you can see where the clips are and try to push only where the clips are, i thought something was wrong but it finally went in.

I had to show more force toward it than i planned. It took a few gentle raps from the palm of my hands then popped into place. First one was a 10 min ordeal, second was a min flat.

Mine weren’t sitting flush so I pulled them off and re installed them. The trick is that you have to make sure they are going in at the right angle and kinda “force” them into place. 8707C268-2ECB-4376-B856-844A7CB80BA1.jpg 4FD11829-75BB-463F-B0DE-32344B20BD8E.jpg

Exactly. Mine were doing the same thing and I kept thinking what the hell. Got mad and made a fist and hit it hard and it went in and stayed in. I thought well SOB.

@OP FWIW not to knock Sparks, there have been a number of threads on this and door handle topics. Somewhere Micah provides a video which may or may not be helpful. Anyway try to search and review a @T-Rex266 or @Patriot DIY thread. Sorry can't remember exact OP but seem to recall middle way through there are comments on possible clip configuration differences and work around suggests from either of the two mentioned. A bit dated but possible help for your effort I trust and associate methods these guys suggest, but cannot personally confirm b/c
    1) I just purchased mat, mirrors and handles from @Roman and
    2) Since parts still enroute so I haven't attempted change yet. After arrival and our snow melt here, I will go back and manually look up the thread(s) before attempting to change out. GLWYI

Wish I had looked at this trend before!
Order mine from sparks also and did the same thing now a small clip broke and now more likely I'm stuck with them, the seem to be a bit larger than the ones on my tundra and also have different part number

I also had to push harder then originally thought when swapping out my platinum chrome for white - I had alignment issues and then pushed a little harder and clicked right into place.

    Luckily I avoided broken clips
