I posted this in Introductions so my apologies in advance if posting again over her is not allowed, but I read later that questions go in the forums...so...actually towards the bottom of this post is the actual question.

My Tundra is 2011 and just took it in for an oil change at the dealer yesterday. When I bought it in 2012, one of the niceties was that it came with lifetime oil changes.

So while I was there at the dealership waiting, one of the guys asked if I wanted to test drive the 2019 Tundra. I accepted and we dashed off. It was pretty much the same as my 2011, but it felt far more plush on the bumps. Not sure if that is enough plush to lure me to a new one. He said if I traded mine in, and bought this one, the difference would be about $19K. Not too bad, but just was not in the market.

AND, I told him that I never buy another vehicle if they do not fix a major problem with the one I already have. MY ISSUE is that the gas pedal peters out at the worst times...like when you are taking a fast left turn between groups of traffic, or if you are trying to pass someone and you have to lurch around them quickly. WTF is that about??

I have probably been at least 4 or 5 times nearly wiped off the map as I learned the hard way that this thing has the throttle of death...more like Russian Roulette. Never know when it is going to peter out, but it does it. I have to warn everyone before the drive it.

SOOOO, is there any solution? I told a guy in a parking lot once awhile back...he told me a name of some device, and I forgot where I put the info. Dang...he said it was THE fix.

Just curious if anyone knows what the solution for this issue is.

    Thanks,

    Keith

Are you sure it's the gas pedal and not the traction control? It sounds like the government mandated nanny is detecting a wheel spinning and applying the brake. I know on my '13 Rav4 it feels like the engine just lost all power when it kicks on.

This. Try disengaging the traction control every drive and see if you have anymore issues. If not you know it's something in that system vs throttle.

Don't buy a 2019 until they fix the leaking cam tower seals.

It could be the Traction control.

Long shot, earlier Gen 2's had accelerator issues. Ours was very touchy, head jerking on take offs. It doesn't sound like the same issue but it is an electrical signal from the pedal to the Brains. Maybe the signal from the pedal has some questionable spots. For $40-50 you could try the new pedal; Toyota part # 04000-0440C. 10 minute job to replace.

    Good Luck!
