Some Honest MPG Numbers. No BS.

My 2018 is bone stock, I drive I-95 daily in northeast Florida, but I typically do 80, so I am getting about 15mpg. Though my average is worse because I am blessed with the ability to hit every red light, all of the time! So really getting 14.5 each tank. If I slow down I can get better, but people push you hard on I-95 if you drive slow, and you get cut off all of the time, which causes you to press the breaks a lot. Either way, kudos to those who can pull off the better MPG. Meanwhile, I'm over here saving for a commuter motorcycle . . .

 

Looked into this a bit. Acetone is what's called a "polar" in chemistry. Gasoline is a "non-soluble". The components that make up a fuel system in a engine are designed for non-soluble gasoline which means the polar acetone can actually eventually eat thru gas lines and damaged injectors with extended use. Acetone also being a polar can actually clean deposits inside the fuel system which can be what the "increased gas mileage" may be coming from. Not that it actually makes the vehicle have better gas mileage but rather possibly just restoring it t where it should be in the first place. Also it has been tested mostly on vehicle that predate 1995 so that can be very much the case that all it does is clean deposits to more efficiently burn the gasoline.

Very interesting. May be able to use it short term for just the cleaning benefits.

 

I have an idea. What about a skid plate that is more aerodynamic that can possibly increase gas mileage?

Also a few things myth buster did to improve gas mileage. Remove spare tire, increase air pressure by 10%, drive only 45mph.. also fuel up in the morning because gas is supposed to be more dense in the morning which means you get more for your money basically..

 

I have no lift
255 70 18 tire size 20 mpg for 78000 miles highway 2 years
275 70 18 10 ply tire 115000 miles 16 mpg
New tires are a 265 75 18 10 ply 16 17 highway

City driving 13.5 14.5

 

If I keep the tac under 2k I can get 17mpg on the hwy/cruise set. However it's difficult to do round here. Very Hilly.

 

Running on average 75mph, trip and mileage were reset at fill up today, almost 150 miles averaging 16.3 on winter grade fuel

 

I have never seen anything above 13.5 in the almost 2 years I've had my '17 crewmax no matter what I do

 

Each of my neighbors own tundras, 5.7l CM. One is a '17 and one is a new '19. The 19 gets 12.5mpg and the '17 doesn't see over 14mpg. I thank the truck gods for my 15.5 @ 84kmiles

 

Much of that is dependent on driving habits

 

I want to say duh... but I digress.

Ill simply elaborate: all three of us have very similar driving habits. I'm on the aggressive end with the two old gents being more relaxed. Neither of them know their truck has a go fast button.

 

Well I said that because some people don't know that. But the fact that their mpg is that low suggests something is wrong with either their trucks or their reporting facts. People say Tundras are bad on gas but in reality they are right up there with the big 3. My 2014 CM was getting 16.7mpg on the highway before I lost my job and had to let it go. I have a 2010 CM now with a supercharger and it gets closer to 18mpg on the hwy. Both 5.7l and 2wd
