Official Tundra Wheel and Tire Setups - Pics and Info

Quick Q (sorry if it's been answered I'm short on time searching the forum):

I've got the stock steel 18" wheel, no lift. Want to capture a $100 discount this Labor Day and install 285/70/R18 BFG KO2s on my stock truck. I'm doing a Bilstein 5100 level (2.25" front, 0" rear) but can't install it until the 12th. Can I stuff the 285s in before I get the lift and be ok for a couple weeks, or am I gonna ruin them / the truck?

 

Couldn't you just buy the tires and mount them once you get your lift? Might be a bit of a squeeze, those tires are around 11.5" wide.

Also, are you sure you've got the right tire or size on your post? BFG doesn't have a 285/70/18 KO2 on their website, the only one they have in that size is the KM2 M/T's.

 

The discount is on the mounting and balancing, not the tires themselves. And you're right, 285/65 is what I meant, but I'm also looking at 275/70 KO2s

 

I think you should be good to go, you'll probably need to remove the small "front of wheel well" mud flaps but it should work fine, my 305/65R17's did

Did you say you're fitting 305s on a stock wheel? If so that's great. I was thinking I might have to pick up after market rims...

I know nothing about wheels and tires other than the one you guys have on are awesome and I'd like to replace my stock steels SR5 CM with some black wheels. But I'll be shopping second hand. I'm researching the Tundra wheel specs and am a bit confused. Are rim, PCD, and load rating all I really need to look at or does offset and backspacing critical for fit, form, and function? You guys got wheels of all kinds of offset and backspacing it seems. Did you guys have to add spacers or things like that? I'd like to know what are the details I need to keep an eye out for to have a nice look without sacrificing safety and performance. Basically a straight wheel swap out. Are there other trucks and year with the same wheel specs as Tundra 2014-2016?

Does anyone on here have any idea or recommendations on what rim/tire combo I should run!? I have had fuel Mavericks 20x10 -24 offset and I have sold that set up and wanting to go with something different looking more towards a rim that's more under the wheel well but has just a little bit of stance not sticking out a ridiculous amount. I have a 3/1 level kit on my truck and I see guys with 20s and running 35 just wanting to know what offset will give a aggressive look and stick out just a tab past fender but not too far

How do 275/70/18 AT's fit on a 18x9 wheel?
Do they fit square or stretch? I ask because recommended wheel width for it is up to 8.5 only.

I'm working on it! Having tire choice issues and might have to either go to 38's instead or 40's. The availability for BFG KRT race tires is crap

38's are meh to me since there's only 2 options just as the 39's. 40's there's a crap load of options.

 

I've got a wheel question for you guys. I've got a stock '07 Tundra Limited Double Cab, stock 18" TRD Wheels, w/ Hankook Dyanapro ATM's 265/75R18 tires. I'm looking for another wheel as my stock ones are shot.

My main concern is what offset should I get for a new set of wheels, to give me good clearance on both sides of the tire for snow cables, mainly front wheel clearance. The snow cables I have now are SCC Super Z6's, and they only require a 1/4" of clearance.

Of course later on I might get a level lift kit, then go with an oversized 18" Tire.

The two wheel's I've been looking at are the Level 8 MK6, which is a +12mm Offset, or the Fuel Anza which is a +20mm offset. I'm thinking right now that with the Hankooks, and snow cables I might be better off at a +30-40mm Offset?

 

Okay guys, I have read through this thread and still need some input. I have a 2016 Platinum max cab. Im looking at either the Zone 3.5" or the Fox 3"coil overs, Zone UAC, with 1in rear blocks, ready lift sway bar drop kit and differential drop kit. I want to run 35/12.5 BFG AT KO's. I would like a rim with a bit of depth. I am looking at the XD 809. I like the deep look of the Anthem's on Thread #532. I do want the tire to stick outside the wheel well a bit, no more the 1.5"-2"

My last truck was a 2012 Rock Worrior with a 3/1 Ready lift, Rock Worrior 17" wheels with 35/12.5 Toyo MT, and then 35/12.5 BFG AT KO's. That truck rode great expect the thing would set off the VSC every time I turned too hard or while getting on/off a freeway. I didn't have to try hard for the VSC to lick in. It was very annoying to say the least.

 

1. Turn the VSC off?
2. 3.5's won't fit. 3.0 coil overs are the largest you can go and that in itself is dependent on the UCA. Most guys just run the 2.5's if you PHYSICALLY need more than a 2.5 you should be looking at long travel.
3. 90% of the DD guys including myself that also run long travel (the extreme end of suspension with our trucks) are running 2.5 coilovers and 2.5 bypasses.

Note: it's the bypasses that really make the ride comfy on the street.

 

Bandit I appreciate the reply, but I have to be honest. I don't understand what you are saying. I think you are saying 35's will not fit with the fox 3.0" coilover. You are also saying not to use anything bigger than a 2.5" coil over or lift, period. What is a 2.5" bypass? The new truck doesn't have the VSC problem. Turning off the VSC on the 2012 made no difference, I went to 3 different toyota dealers. They all said it was normal and nothing I could do. Since truck is gone, I guess its irrelevant at this point.

 

I'm not saying there's an issue stuffing 35's at all i'm on 37's. The issue is in the UCA and coil over selection.
3.5 coil overs won't fit period. Not without a Long Travel Upper arm and a heavily modified coil bucket.
3.0 coil overs will fit but is overkill and you'll be wasting money going that big if you're only wanting to do UCA's
2.5 will handle everything you want plus more and cost less than the 3.0's

I'm saying there's no point going any larger than 2.5 coil overs unless you want to waste money.

What I was talking about as far as the 2.5 bypass was concerned is adding a secondary bypass either 2.0 or 2.5 3 tube is what will make the biggest difference as far as ride quality goes.

Adding a coil over is certainly an improvement as far as strength goes but it didn't do much improvement on the ride quality until I added the secondary bypass shock.

Giving you a little help in the direction of coil selection is all.

 

I think I figured out his confusing post.

He wants to run a Zone Offroad 3.5" inch lift kit system which includes Zone Offroad UCA's. And he wants to run fox 3.0 Coil overs with remote resies.

I thought he was saying he wanted to run either 3.5 or 3.0 coil overs.....English mang!

Anyways, my suggestion. Total Chaos or camburg UCA's with the TC diff drop kit. Fox 2.5 Coil overs w/res (if you have the money...Get secondary bypasses.) TC sells hoops needed.

stay away from readlift for anything off road related. Unless you like their stickers.

So I can use the Fox Coilovers and get 35" tires under it. Now I need to understand wheel choices I guess. I would like the wheel to stick at least 1" outside wheel well.

@Tacogeuse thats what I figured... those tires look massive! Thanks for that pic of the front liner. So since you cut one side of the bottom, how many screws do you have holding it now?
