seems like more people are finding out about the leak/seep because of the internet. I was told Toyota is planning on calling Vice President Al Gore and complain!

My rep told me yesterday when I got my truck that Toyota Head quarters is pissed off with the Findlay Toyota, the one I go to. About all the ones they are doing under warranty.. they said it’s way to much charge on labor.. My Rep told me they said if it’s not crazy leaking to send it back to us and don’t say anything until it’s a serious issue.. that’s pretty fucked up if it’s true

Is not updated. It is the exact same formulation, part # and package as it has been for at least the last 5 years that I have been using it. It is used on the assembly line for oil pans.

Now why they didnt use this FIPG when installing the cam towers, I have no idea. I dont even think we can order the grey FIPG that they use.

That’s probably why they told me once it’s fixed it won’t have an issue again.. upgraded product

They shouldn't be mad at the dealer for making it right, Toyota should be mad at themselves for pushing out a bad product. They should be fixing this at the production level.

Maybe we're complaining to the wrong people for the wrong thing... Let's call up California and tell the EPA that Toyota is forcing us to let this poisonous oil on the ground.

A little of this and a little of that.
Until Toyota corporate is forced to stand behind their product for a fix this big it will continue to get push back from HQ. That's why I gave my information to the law firm starting the class action. I want a paper trail just in case. Come on Toyota.

Well guys they got me good mine is at the dealership right now getting both sides down. Just bought mine a year and a half ago has 91000 on it and bought And extended warrantee it is supposed to cover everything but it won’t cover the cam tower seals. Because it is considered a gasket Which is B.S. I have been fighting the dealership, Toyota, and this crazy warranty company and all say there is nothing that will cover it. At least there is a law firm in Washington that is starting a law suit over this. Spoke with them last night. They took all my information. They said they are getting two to three calls a day about this problem. So hopefully maybe I can recover some money back. This has to stop.

As someone who isn't very knowledgeable about cars, this is the sort of thing that worries me. Unless it's dripping on my driveway, I would never know it was a problem. I have to trust the dealership that when I bring it in for maintenance that they will spot it and tell me. I guess I better get more familiar with my truck's undercarriage lol.

Sorry guys just getting back to you been at work The reason is is because it’s considered a gasket that’s what they’re telling me. Just like a valve cover gasket it’s not covered either the only gaskets that are covered under this warranty our camshaft seals Cylinder head gasket’s engine case half st cylinder head gaskets engine case half seal Front crank case seal so it’s very tricky but to me that’s part of The camshaft I am part of the head but they said no. And the company is called Premier dealer services and of course I tried to deny it when I bought the truck the payments were gonna be like $20 more a month and I kept telling him no and they got it down to like $1.05 more a month and I was like OK and they said it covers everything in this brochure shows a lot But not certain gaskets

Time to set up a “Go Fund Me” page for cam tower leaks not covered by warranty. Just kidding...very sorry to hear that some are paying for this repair out of pocket. That ain’t right!!!

I'm in the market and I'm only considering buying a certified used Tundra since the mileage may be barely beyond 60,000. I haven't had time to read this entire thread but if my new (to me) truck were leaking, would I have problems getting it fixed as long as it is a certified truck?

I would walk in there and look at the cam shaft and see if it had grey or black sealer and depending on the year you’re buyin. That’s where I would start

Good point and that was my plan. The only thing is I'll be driving possibly a couple hundred miles to find a "deal" on a used 2016. If I get there and discover it is leaking, should that be a dealbreaker if the truck is certified used? I could talk to that dealership about fixing it but then again, I would not be local to that area. I feel if I'm driving a couple hundred miles to look at a truck, I'll be buying it unless something is majorly wrong.

Just gave them my info online. I'm still under warranty, but my cam tower "seepage" isn't bad enough for Toyota to approve yet. Just wanted to give them my info to add another case.

Make it part of the purchase deal that it needs to be resealed at their expense.

Well, from what I’ve been reading, $3500 to me seems major enough for Me.. I’d also bring it up to them if it hasn’t been done and show them that class act lawsuit pending. They need to fix their work!.

Yes, $3500 ranks in the major category for me as well! I guess I was trying to say that I'd still buy it if I knew they'd fix it but I guess that is the unknown. I'd ask them to take pics of the suspected areas ahead of time but the untrusting part of me thinks they would possibly clean the area and then take pics. Thanks for the info.
