I feel more comfortable replacing the struts than the uca for some reason.

so I went back to the shop that did the alignment today and asked him if he could correct the alignment because of how the tires are toed inward at the bottom (positive camber) and he said he could but it might jeopardize the ride on the highway.Has anyone that has done a 3/1 leveling kit that kept your stock upper control arms had a problem? He also said if I get different UCA's look for ones that have more CASTER. Is there arms that have more CASTER ?

I'm at 3/1.75 with stock UCA with no alignment issues. General consensus is when you go over 3 you need and aftermarket UCA. Having typed that, I'm getting some ICON Deltajoint UCA installed and the next 2 weeks.

the truck drives straight it just to much positive camber and I don't want it wearing the tires plus I don't like the looks of it. I will post a picture in a few. what did those arms cost? are they adjustable?

$800 and yes, very adjustable. Still, 3 or under you are good but certainly not bad to go aftermarket UCA.

Does anyone happen to have their alignment results with a 3/1 leveling kit with stock arms so I can compare ?

The Beast is right. Keep in mind the SPC's are built well and have greaseable ball joints. SPC uses ball joints that have up to 80 degrees of articulation. The top notch UCA's like Total Chaos use Uniball joints with even more articulation and will cost more for good reason. Depends what you do and of course budget. @Toytec Lifts has several UCA offerings and a forum discount.....

I will look at all of those sometime today. Thanks.

does someone have their alignment specs so I can compare to mine? I know some members say you don't need the aftermarket UCA's but the alignment shop said if he gets the tires to not look like the are toed in at the bottom it might ride real bad on the highway. Does anyone have any input on this?

    Thanks again!

I would have them try fixing the alignment and see how the ride is. I know all these trucks are different, but I haven't seen anyone talk about having this much trouble aligning the trucks with a 3/1 kit and stock UCA's. There are tons of them out there on stock UCA's, and an offroad shop local to me that sells lifted trucks, and they do it all in house. They are a very reputable dealer and grown quite a bit over the last few years, but their "go to" on the Tundras are usually a Rough Country 3/1 kit, and they don't replace UCA's.

I'm not saying you are wrong or that your truck doesn't need them, but I would get them to try to fix it and see about the ride!! Good luck!

I agree looking at other members specs compared to mine there is still some room to fix that part of it (camber) so I will probably just have him try to fix that part of it then go from there.Unfortunately he's going to charge me another alignment fee of $140 but if its corrected it worth it!

I'm my case I stayed with the OEM uca's when my OME coilovers were installed. @LOTSOFTOYS was able to dial in my alignment fairly close to factory specs. He's very good. I don't have final #'s handy but I do know that the SPC's will let you achieve factory specs if you can't with stock UCA's.

the shop that did the alignment wanted me to show him the arms I was thinking of purchasing before I bought them and he would let me know which ones he thought I should go with so I showed him a few (SPC,ICON,and JBA) and he said not the SPC because they are adjustable and its more headaches and he recommended the JBA out of those 3 but would like to get it fixed without going that route first. Don't really know any other shops around to take it to!

Why is the uniball bad to use here in Chicago. Salt destroy them more than the ball joint.

For non offroading, I would get the camburg balljoint uca’s. Their stuff is top notch. Do it right the first time.

If you can install shocks, you can install uca’s on a gen 2. It’s easy

For what it’s worth... we have a local shop here that specializes in tundras and Tacoma’s for off road goodies. I consulted with them after I bought my LowRange lifted level kit. And they told me that they could get tundras and Tacoma’s so close on the castor that it wouldn’t have any affect.

I have the Camburg ball joint UCAs with 3/1.5 295/70/18 18x9 +12 bmc and still rub at full lock. I’m new to this stuff and clueless but keep that in mind if you’ve got bigger tires and aiming for the ball joint camburgs.

The uca shouldn’t affect your rubbing.

Outlaw offroad in socal did a crappy job on my Bmc so my tires rubbed on it as well. The bmc has to be done deep enough to be effective. Not sure if yours had the same issue as mine.

+12 sticks out more than most wheels so that might be the reason for your rub
