On Saturday I'll be traveling to South Carolina from Connecticut.
I'm looking for recommendations for a safe place to park and rest for a few hours. I'll be towing a camper. I'm looking between Roanoke Virginia on route 81 and Charlotte North Carolina on route 77.
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Home Depot parking lot. Usually plenty of fast food around to grab a quick bite and use the restroom.

There's Walmart in Newbern, VA, or a Love's Truck Stop just before you make the interchange at Max Meadows on 81 (Google says it's exit 84) and another on 77 just before you cross the VA/NC State line (Exit 1 per Google). Other than that, your best bet may be around the 77/40 interchange. There's not much on 77.

line up with the big boys at a truck stop, just don't let the lot lizards in.

I take that route a couple of times a year. Plenty of well lit , clean truck stops along the way. I also use the VA rest areas and have found them to be fine.

You'll find Walmart no longer welcomes overnight camping. All stores are now posted.

Thanks for all of the advice on my travel. It's a whole different world down here. I found lots of safe places to rest south of Roanoke.
