I got on the link and left my information and that I already paid for mine to get fixed. Their website said 2010-2018 Tundras with the cam tower leak. Mines a 2007 , wonder if the lawsuit will be amended to include 07-09’s?

Thanks for weighing in @sm_tundra, wish I could this this myself but my skills end at brakes and oil! Will be totally bummed when the leak occurs but it isn’t the end of the planet.

They should be using FIPG, which is legit stuff. I do not think its degradation of the FIPG from the factory, but rather just not enough put on by the robots in the factory. Its happening in the same exact spot in our engines, and at nearly the same degree. Just got mine back from the dealership yesterday, and a nice healthy bead of black FIPG along both sides. I dont have any doubt that it will hold up.

My service advisor called me to bring the Tundra in this morning (parts are in). I drove in, picked up my service advisor, we drove to the other side of the dealership and up to the TRAC office. This is what was waiting for me for at least a three day rental (if needed that long) at no cost. I didn't ask for it, I didn't ask for it to be free, I didn't even ask for it for three days or longer. I was just nice, courteous, and patient.

I joked with the TRAC associate about it snowing and that it was a good thing I'm not going dirt biking. This can't pull a trailer. lol

The black sealant is an updated FIPG product, and it’s pricy...probably too pricy for production line assembly. https://www.amazon.com/Genuine-Toyo...qid=1549386915&sr=8-1&keywords=toyota+sealant

My 2019 is at 4,700 miles. Just checked this morning and it is still silver and clean. I hope it stays that way.

At least they brought it to your attention and addressed it. That is what I expect from a good service tech. I got the "we've never heard of this" routine. Believe me, if we know about it then they know. Some just like to play dumb, blind, possum.

They should, it's the same engine in the 07-09s. I don't understand why they were left out to begin with except the lawyers didn't do their research well enough.

Took my truck in this morning to get the oil changed and look into a 2019 Pro. Loved the Pro but they wouldn't budge off the MSRP so I passed but they did inform me I have the drivers side cam tower leak. Left the truck to get fixed under warranty and will pick up tomorrow. I only have 6,800 miles on my 2018.

Lots of low mileage 2018's in here with the cam tower leak, you would think Toyota would get a grip on this issue.

I didn't and won't sign up for the class action lawsuit. It will be taken care of by Toy

I only decided to check two weeks ago. Took it in with 5600 miles. By the looks of it, I think I was leaking since 2000 miles.

I called the dealer back to ask if both would be fixed or just the side leaking and they said the warranty only covers the side leaking at the time. Is this correct or do I need to push back. 2018 with 6,800 miles.

That seems to be the standard answer, as was the case with mine, but I pushed back and got them to do both sides. Just depends on the dealer.

Who did you push back with? Service advisor or higher?

My dealership has a bunch of "service advisors/managers", and mine is the one that said "no" to both sides. I then went to the service director, who was in charge of the entire service department, and he's the one that approved it. I basically said my brand new truck with 8,500 miles is leaking oil and I don't want to have to come back and have them open the engine up a second time. He agreed and said they might as well do both while they're in there.
