Ramming speed!

2019 RAMs must have electric steering. There's a recall for a poorly torqued ground strap fastener for the steering resulting in sudden loss of assist.

 

Fiat Chrysler Automobiles NV said on Tuesday it would recall 882,000 pickup trucks worldwide in two new recalls to address steering and pedal issues.

The Italian-American automaker said it was recalling about 660,000 heavy duty Ram 2500 and 3500 pickup trucks from the 2013 through 2017 model years, including 574,000 in the United States, as drivers could potentially experience steering loss.


The company will also recall 222,000 2019 Ram 1500 pickup trucks worldwide to better secure brake pedals while the vehicles’ adjustable-pedal feature is in use.

The brake pedal could get detached if drivers move pedals to the rear-most position, the company said. That could be dangerous if trucks are traveling at highway speeds.

 

Ha. And everyone wants the lastest greatest tech in their vehicles. Well, here ya go.

 

Right!? Keep updating the trucks and never work any of the kinks out before you come out with more crap.

 

Yep. The main problem is people are asking for this stupid shit, cause people are so fucking lazy now. They ask for all this techy shit, it goes to shit, they start bitching. I love my outdated reliable truck, that I still have to use my head to drive.

 

One of the many reasons that I didn’t get a Ram or Silverado. There’s no way that I’d ever buy a first-year design, especially one of the “American” brands.

My 1st year 07 Tunny has had one issue. I recently replaced an $18 power steering pressure sensor. Not bad for a 1st year design. No cam tower leaks yet. No leaks anywhere actually....

 

It's the 1500 trucks that got the electric steering gear; the 2500/3500 have recirculating ball steering...

 

In the IT world, we generally avoid version X.0 You never go with the first generation of a new release/model.

 

I didn’t even think of that...

 

I've passed by a few old Tacomas that seemed to have a ball joint failure on the lower control arm that looked pretty catastrophic.

 

They didn't name it RAM for nothing.

 

It is a Ram, not a Steer.

As for the adjustable pedals being moved all the way rearward - clearly this is a short-people problem. So watch out for short Ram drivers.
