    There are many different AAL's available out there. They are not all the same. Different thickness', length, force/tension factors to consider when added to OEM leafs or aftermarket leafs . It's all about finding the right one for your needs. I personally try to avoid blanket statements about anything. Don't want to steer anyone wrong. Hearsay is not a factor I go by.

    Coachbuilder shacklers are MUCH beefier than Toytec shackles. Practically everyone who has them can't say enough nice things about them.

    Beefier shackles will lessen the chances of side-to-side sway with long shackles.

    CB shackles are bolt together aluminum. Toytecs are 3/8" welded steel.
    I know where I would put my money on which is stronger. Hint hint steel.
    Toytecs are also only $139.

    Yes that is what I have done. If you have constant load in the bed then aal would be good. If you tow then add air bags for a great ride when loaded.

    True you could go with the Icon progressive aal that gives 1.5" of lift.

    Steel is stronger for the same size. Coachbuilder shackles are substantially larger than either Toytec or Toyota shackles.

    Anyway, I have neither Toytec nor Coachbuilder shackles. I was sorta planning to get some upgrades, but other mods got done first, haha. But those who have them seem to love them . . . whole lot. FYI, here is a poll taken about this over at another forum.

    ToyTec shackles are pretty much the same size dimensionally and solid welded as in no weak points.Not bolted together. ToyTec shackles are pretty freaking beefy. They dwarf OEM shackles. Can't go wrong with either shackles. $139 for ToyTecs is a steal.

    These are the Coachbuilders shackles I am talking about (first three). The last one, I believe is Toyota shackles.

    Im sure either shackle would be an excellent choice.
    I PERSONALLY chose the CoachBuilder +2. They are so stout and well built and David is such a great person to deal with. He will work with you every step if you need any help. Like I said...can't go wrong either way.

    Thanks for the pictures of ToyTec shackles. The side by side shot with Toyota shackles is really helpful. They do look sweet. Definitely an option if I decide to do shackles.

    I asked the ToyTec gurus up close and personal if I should get the new Boss shocks for the rear. Same price. Said to to with the matching OME Nitrocharger rears. Nothing to do with Boss rears being inferior. The Boss are great.

    I went with boss because they are slightly longer. The ome shocks are great but they also limit the Dakar springs.
