Is there a reason nobody mentions the Yokohama Geolandar A/T GO15? I am looking for a 315/70R17 to run on the Icon Six Speed wheel. The Geo weighs only 61 pounds and is 34.4 inches x 12.4 wide. It also has a 50,000 tread warranty. Aside from that, a ton of guys in South Africa, Kenya, Uganda (basically Africa as a whole) and Australia swear by them on their Hiluxes and Land Rovers. Just curious why they don't seem to be popular for the Tundra? Is it just a looks issue (ego) versus actual performance?

I think the Geo and the Goodyear Duratrac are my final two in that size.
Then there is the Toyo Open Country AT II in 305/70R17 that equates to 33.9x 12.2 wide and weighs 64lbs. It has a 50,000 tread warranty as well.

I am a first time Tundra owner so if there is something I'm missing about these options please let me know! Thanks in advance.
(I already posted this topic in another forum with zero responses.)

My BIL runs them on his Chevy. Good looking tire imo and pretty quiet although he only has around 5ooo miles on them

Here are some images on other vehicles. I am unable to locate a Tundra with them or a review for the Tundra. For a tire this size to only weigh 61 pounds also beats out the other popular tires by several pounds. Plus the warranty is nice. Thanks for your input/ opinions/ witty banter.

looks similar to Toyo AT or Nitto terra grapplers. People usually like bigger " muddish" tires on their big trucks. If I had a tacoma i would probably run the AT or Geolander though.

Yes sir I have looked at those tires. All excellent choices. Fortunately there are ample reviews and pictures of those tires online. Thank you for the suggestions, I don't want this to turn into a post for the wheel and tire forum. I just found it strange that there are hardly any reviews on a tire that internationally has tremendous popularity with actual over landers in Europe, Africa (where I am now) and Australia. Tires and water here are life. So I was curious as to why it has no mention for the Tundra. I see how it "looks" boring compared to the Duratrac or Nittos. I want to explore all the options which in the tire world is like figuring out which lure to use in the fishing forums. If as a forum there is no experience with it, than that in itself is an indicator to me to probably just go with the Toyo AT like you mentioned or the Duratrac which both have pics, reviews and high ratings for Tundra owners.

Thank you again for your help sir.

I am running these in 295/70/18. My third set of geolanders but first set of the new GO15s. I have been very pleased with all aspects so far, work great in heavy sand, gravel and clay after about 7k miles. I have not had them in much mud or wet/rainy pavement yet. Very quiet, more so then the BFGs on my last Tundra (although not the updated model). The set on my previous Land Cruiser 05 went just over 50k with solid tread left when I sold it. Yes they run these tires the world over and are as popular as the BFGs are here in the States. I would recommend them, lots of size choices as well.

This is the response where everyone says "pictures please sir!"

Aside from the pic request, thank you for the review and response. I do not plan on "mudding" my Tundra and it will be on pavement the majority of the time.

    Don't forget the pic!

Gotcha I was thinking more for fitment with the icon six speed wheel then actual tire review. I haven't looked at Yokohama tires sense the early 1990s I had a set of there street tires that didn't last long at all. And I haven't looked at them sense.

Icon states that the six speed is made for up to a 315/70R17. So anything less than that will be awesome. Several forum members have them and like the setup. And I try to run the keep it simple method. So the rim and the Geolandar both fall in that category. But again, so does the Toyo AT. Either one is going to be good enough for my daily driving needs. I really appreciate your input. When I return stateside and get my Tundra I will ensure the final build will be put up with any helpful info for others as well.

Exactly why I started looking at it as an option. Almost every Land Rover and Hilux I see over here has them on them. Every South African I talk to swears by them. Then I saw the Aussies raving about them. So I look at how fortunate we are to have the road systems we do in the states and what tires we can run. Then I see these crazy UAE and Saudis and Aussies and Africans running Geolandars everywhere. So I ask what do they know that I don't about these tires? Maybe they don't look as aggressive as the ridge grappler or Duratrac but something somewhere makes them super popular with people who have either no paved roads, hard dirt/Rock roads or crappy potholed African or Aussie outback roads. And if they love them then I feel they are adequate for I-95 and roads from Virginia down to Florida where I will be using them.

You say not great. However, think of it as being so original you may have the only picture on the Internet of a Tundra with these tires! So you say not great, I say original.

@Digodell A few questions/requests if you have time.
    What pressure are you running?
Can you take a diameter measurement? I'm wondering how Yokohama's spec'd diameter compares to installed.
Can you take a picture from the front showing the width?

I was wondering how your installed tire diameter compares to the 34.4" that Yokohama quotes in their specs.

Not yet. I'm actually not in the US right now. The plan is to get home, wait for my SCS Ray 10 wheels to ship, take them to the shop and put a Toyo ATII on one and a Geolandar on one and I'll go with which one I like better. I know e Geolandar doesn't look so aggressive like a ridge grappler or even the Toyo AT, but they are a really good tire for people who aren't off roading all the time, yet off road they do great as seen in pictures and videos from all over the planet. I will update for sure though once it happens.

    Yut.

Maybe they don't have the mud and snow that we do. Tighter tread works better on sand than open tread. I run both rocky terrain and mud. Mud is main concern so I prefer Cooper ST Maxx.

There is no maybe. Definitely no snow in Africa or Australia. But in Europe they run them in the snow. I've seen several YouTube videos of people testing them and showing them off in Europe. I reside in South Carolina for now so snow is not on my list. Mud will be sporadic or self induced on east coast/ post thunderstorm southern mud puddles or state park dirt roads. Again, we all have different mission needs based on our geographic locations in the US. So we all have different answers. I'm torn between these and the Toyo ATII for my final answer and started this thread to see what others knew about them for/on the tundra.
