I think I read somewhere that the dots were something to do with assembly line testing. All the lights working gets a colored dot, all the glass is in and working... colored dot, etc. Not sure if that's really what they're for though.

They're manufacturing/transport marks that should have been removed by the dealership detailer before they gave it to you.
It's nothing, and will wash off. But it goes to show that it's hard to find good help these days. When I was a young detailer many years ago, I would have never let a vehicle be delivered with those marks. I mean, the kid had one job.....

    nice truck btw.

Looks like assembly line code of some kind. The inside of my Tundra door frames have similar markings.

In my area of work these are what vendors do to make sure they don’t work on the same vehicle twice. PDR guys, bumper painting guys, wheel guys, interior guys. We all mark different spots, usually taillights but sometimes windshields as well

One fender bender I know of ??

Had very detailed Carfax - all dealer service( not my choice)- but at least I know it was serviced regularly ! And one parking lot incident ( fender bump ) one panel on RF not lined up ( there fixing this week along with other owed services) - result of accident- I thoroughly checked it over during test drive - no panels have been replaced that I can tell
    Really “CLEAN” 38k ride

That wouldn't have came from the assembly process. I worked at the Toyota plant in Princeton, Indiana for seven years back when they did the Tundra, Sienna, and Sequoia there. You'll find paint dots all over the engine compartment, electrical hookups, and underneath around the suspension and frame area to verify that they were inspected in one of the quality processes at the end of the assembly lines. They'd never put them on the outside of a vehicle though.
    Guessing something from the dealer/shipper.

When I purchased My Tundra They painted something similar on my truck. Silver dots. Guy at the dealership said it was some anti-theft, tracking mechanism. Not sure the name of it or how it works. Check inside the engine compartment, they may be there as well.

The reason I ask is I've seen those types of marks from 'pick-a-part' places and other sellers of automotive parts. They usually put them in less conspicuous places though.

I would agree that these are some sort of assembly markings or inspection markings from the factory. My truck had similar markings on every bolt to signify they had been troqued.

Various vehicles photographed for sale on a lot can sometimes look the same if they have no license plates or other identifying markings.
Sometimes the lenses get marked so the folks can identify one vehicle verses another by looking at the photos.
    Just a thought . . .

Hey, I belong to the Silver dot club as well.
This is on my 2017. Always wondered what it meant but never gave much thought.
Figured it was related to an inventory mark as it sat in the lot before I rescued it.
    Now I'm wondering too.
    Someone has to know.

When I bought my tundra used I found a couple black sharpie dots around the truck. One on the windshield and one on the LF headlamp.
Come to find out they were scheduled to replace those parts. There’s a chip in the windshield and the headlamp is yellowed compared to the other headlamp that was brand new after being replaced in a fender bender.

Us dealership vendors put those marks on so that when we’re walking the lots looking for work we know what we’ve already worked on.
