I dont like it either. I cant use choose music through the steering wheel hands free using bluetooth. When i choose a song from the playlist it plays another random song every time. The navigation always takes you on a longer route no matter what route you have chosen ie shortest time, shortest distance, or whatever the 3rd option is. Hopefully the 2020's will be better. I like the HU my Camry has but the Tundras HU is just disfunctional when compared

I don’t have a fancy system in my Tundra but I have the 8 inch touch screen with Nav and everything else in my Challenger. My wife has the tech package in her 2015 Acura TLX. It took me 5 minutes to figure my Challenger out. 4 years after we bought her Acura I don’t really change much besides the radio station and volume when I drive it. Everything else requires too much thought and effort while driving unless you’re in the car all the time to the point where it’s second nature. It’s a nice driving car and she loves it but I almost never take it out because of how complicated it seems to do everything.

Cue up every old guy on these forums to come in and bombard you with “I bought a truck because it gets me from point A to point B”

I agree it’s trash. Love the rest of the truck though, minus technology and a few convenience features.

This, the Acura’s system is so overly complex with the dual touch screens and buttons that do nothing, it’s ridiculous..my MDX after 3 years I still don’t use because its slow, and half the time doesn’t connect. I love the Toyota one, fast, always connects and easy to use, not sure what makes you think it’s bad. Works great for me.

This truck could have been made by Subaru. It has the exact same infotainment system as our Forester. Also the same hard plastics and silver trim bits. If it’s just as reliable I’ll be happy. Us old guys don’t need apple and android shit.

Mine will reliably connect to my phone via Bluetooth, but will randomly not connect to it as an audio player. Sometimes I have both phone and music, sometimes only phone. Anytime know a fix for this......other than plugging it into the Aux port?

    I'm 56. I drive 36K+ miles a year. I haul stuff. I haul people.
My nav and music works just fine. I have XM and I use an old ipod for my own music.
It's simple to use. My phone, texts and email pair and work excellent. The people I talk to can hear me just fine and I hear them.

    Where's the bitch?

Same here, mine does exactly what it's supposed to. Play music. This is why vehicles has all this safety sense shit, people are worried about what the radio is doing and not driving.

My 1st car had an AM only radio. This is heaven compared to some of the head units I’ve had.

Cannot be worse than the Panasonic unit in the latest edition Dodge Ram. Buddy has one and they already started a class action suit...

Today the JBL would not let me go to the next song or the previous song. I had to browse thru files to change the song. I disconnected the battery (put on permatex battery protector), and could finally change the song. Then later, the screen would go blank... If I hit the audio button... then the screen would come back on. I see a new system in my future, but I have got to wait to pay this truck off first. :)

Stereo is about as weak as the plastic steering wheel they gave our $50k trucks. But otherwise great truck! Also never understood why the elockers were never an option.

Sorry, I was venting. I really cant stand Toyota's system. It is not user friendly or intuitive. I desperately want to change it out, I guess for the Tesla system, currently researching options.
I literally set a 72 year old man in my 16 GMC, and he had no problem figuring out the infotainment system. It was a very user friendly interface...
I was cursing trying to navigate menus and change GPS routes when I posted earlier.
Its something Toyota needs to work on for the next Gen. Tundra, along with upgraded interior.

Pull it and put in badass stereo with all the accoutrements you want. Our trucks will run a long time, put a stereo in you will enjoy for a long time. Or sell it and buy a Ford and always wonder when it will throw a code.

Better than the 8-track player I had mounted under the drivers seat in my '76 Datsun PU in high school!

Oh wait! That was a graduation present.... so in college! :D

It blows and it sounds like shit. Anyone who says otherwise should listen to an upgraded system. My buddy just got the JBL package in his platinum and that thing sounds like shit as well.

I don't get all the hate...you guys really are high maintenance. My system sounds great. My bluetooth works great. My driving controls work great. I don't get it. And I have had GM's and Fords...I can't tell a difference. Anyone who says they can to enough of a degree that you think it is the worst in the industry, should get rid of the truck and become a music engineer. LOL.
