Searched, but didn't find anything direction on this topic.

I have a head lamp I wear that is excellent and a small work light that has multiple modes with a magnetic attaching base.

But wondering what y'all use when you want a lot of light for working for hours on your vehicle underneath the hood or under the vehicle that you don't have to move a lot and has different light levels with a lot of battery life. Sort of a project light, but more specific for working on vehicles.

BTW, I have a lot of light already in the garage and if I'm working on the front or back in particular, say for a brake job, I'll ensure that part of the vehicle is toward the garage entrance during the day to get a lot of ambient light on the area.

Thanks for any direction to point me in. Below are examples of what I'm already finding, but reviews are not always dependable.

This was mentioned in the past couple days on the 2.5 gen thread..
    https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0DLKZJBNL

I bought it and installed it today. Just waiting on adhesive zip ties to finish up the install. It's super easy to install and works great! I had the same thing on my Tacoma for many years.

I may get an offering from Milwaukee since they have a M12 battery compatible light that appears to be rather versatile and puts out a lot of light and can be flexed all sorts of ways.

Thanks for the suggestion. If you wanted to use this under the truck, how would you configure it? Do the end hooks come off and if they do, is there a magnetic area of the light that can attach to the truck underside? Will it lay on the ground without rolling around? Looks cylindrical, so not sure if it will stay put if laid on the ground.

I think I'm going with this. I like the two to one, or back to two light configuration option. I don't need snapon quality...just something that works, versatile and magnetic. Doesn't break the bank either.

If your already in the Milwaukee family, they have lots of Rover options. I have this small little m12 rover that's magnetic and has some adjustability.

Yeah was thinking about it, but for the Milwaukee money, I can get 2-3 of the lights I posted, with even more versatility. I know the Milwaukee would last forever, but I'm willing to try this route. We'll see...I'll report back after some use.

I had this guy and it was great...I liked being able to tilt the bar to the area I wanted to light up. Cant use it on my 3rd gen because of the aluminum hood, so I gave it to my pops You want adjustability so its actually throwing light where you want it to....not sure if this will work on truck hoods but its got good reviews

I love those little Rovers and use them all the time, especially like you've shown under the hood.

I have purchased several cheap, garbage lights and they always end up in the same place - the garbage.

One thing that I appreciate about the Milwaukee lights - and a reason I'm willing to pay more for them - is that they have a high CRI or color rating index. This means that the light they emit is very close to natural light. Cheap lights rarely produce anything close to natural light and tint the light one way or another - blue, purple, orange, etc. This can make it very difficult to read wire colors correctly. It's also fatiguing on the eyes.

I picked up one of these to go with my Rovers and they make working under the hood or in the cab much easier.

mine is not magnetic but I lay in on the floor and rotate the light portion to shine up when using it beneath the car. I just turn the hooks so they work as a prop so it lays the way I want
