Morning y'all, trying to post more and be more involved, 2020 was crazy. So I am having some work done on my tundra this week. I bought it a year ago. 2006 double cab SR5, with 120k miles 2wd. In the last 6 months I had to replace upper and lower ball joints, and the rack and pinion steering system. Today I dropped it off for the timing belt and water pump. I know they have to open up a lot to do that. I am not handy and don't do much with the truck, but have an honest mechanic I know and trust. He thought he would change spark plug, all my filters, and any fluids that needed flushed and refilled. Do you have any other recommendations while it is being worked on this week? Trying to so some preventative maintenance, it is a great truck and want it to run a long time. Thanks

    Durbin

Pcv valve on the driver side, it’s inexpensive and a quick swap while the spark plugs are being done.

Also maybe clean the Throttle body while it’s off the truck.

Thanks. Got the juices flowing after coming to this site. Hopefully that page helps a little. A lot of that stuff is DIY as the mechanics don’t seem to want to mess with it.

Mostly for you its best to always tell the mechanics you want all OEM (Denso, Aisin, Hitachi) Parts. Do not let them talk you out of them.

All fluids and filters (except transmission). Belts, hoses, thermostat and spark plugs. Some may recommend a radiator as well to avoid pink milkshake. They aren’t that expensive for a denso unit and are super easy to replace.
