Hey all! Got in my truck after work today and it wouldn't shift out of park. I hit the manual release button by the shifter and shifted into drive just fine, and got back home. Checked the brake, tail, reverse, and hazard lights, and they all work. Checked a few fuses as well but then it started pouring down rain so I had to get back inside. Any ideas?

Have you tried turning the steering wheel side to side while you try to shift. Not sure on the tundras, but older cars could get in a bind and not let it shift unless you turned the wheel to take the bind off of the steering lock.

Other than that, I'd guess something in the brake interlock isn't working. Not sure how to test that though.

If your brake lights and everything works. And cruise control work. Then I’d start looking at the shifter. But I’m not sure if bcm controls it or not. For example on dodge/Chrysler/fiat. The vehicle gets put into park if you are in drive and open the drivers door. I don’t think Toyota does fancy stuff like this yet but who knows.

Did it happen just that one time or is it still stuck without manually releasing?

It's still stuck in park, i have to manually release it still. had to run a few errands today and came to work. Still stuck in park. Thinking it might be my third brake light because it's kind of dim and it may not let it complete the circuit. I'll keep everyone updated

Could it be the neutral control switch going bad??? When you press the brake it should communicate to the transmission/ shifter that its OK to release from Park and shift out.
Have you tried engaging the ebrake and shifting out of Park this way without pressing the regular brake??

I've done it before, so I'm pretty sure it should work for you at least in the mean time until you resolve the issue....

Tore apart my center console today, a mouse chewed both wires to the brake interlock switch, had just enough left to solder them and heat shrink them back. Got to clean everything inside of there really good too. Sprayed peppermint oil all throughout the center console area to prevent the mouse from chewing anymore wires. Put a sticky trap down tonight hoping to catch him.

I have a 2015 Tundra TRD tht had 128 000km on it when I purchased from Mitsubishi Dealer.
Got in truck after work one day and would not shift out of park.
Brought it to the toyota dealer, turns out the after market trailer break switch tht was installed by previous owner and butchered mind ya malfunctioned and burned up wires in my break solenoid switch and blew fuses in panel box.
Once tht was all by passed, truck shifted out of park.
