No that charger won’t connect to your apple carplay. If you want to get wireless apple carplay you need an adapter like Carplay2air

Do a YouTube search & you'll find a sick video on how to hide it under the shifter trim. Probably my favorite mod so far.

    That’s the one!

Just to be clear, you already have apple car play but you have to physically plug in to use it. The carplay2air just makes the carplay connection itself wireless

The CPlay2Air and the CarLinkIt both are functionally the same (probably the same firmware even). I've got the former, others on here have the latter.
As stated, that will let you connect to your head unit wirelessly for CarPlay. Then, the wireless charger kit will let you charge your phone wirelessly as well. I haven't pulled the trigger on that one yet, since I've heard some reports that it's not a very robust/fast charger.

I’m in & out of my truck all day. So for me, I don’t care about “speed of charge”. I just can’t have it die. This unit does well for what I need & it’s the perfect spot to set the phone down every time & take off.

Nice. Yes, it is the spot my phone goes as soon as I’m in the truck to, so it would be a natural spot for the charger. I’ll probably pull the trigger once I finish some other projects

Your build is sick! This would be a great addition.
