I got an awesome system yesterday from JRT but am pulling my hair out (whats left of it) trying to get the screen mirroring to work, I plug my phone into the Apple USB, which automatically turns off Wireless Carplay but it then tells me I need to enable screen mirror in the bluetooth profile for the device...I see screen shots on the Kenwood guide and my iphone XS and wifes 8, neither of us get the mirror option when we initially pair our phones via bluetooth...ARGH!!

in the guide below, we just dont have that 4th option to pick

I’ve got a Kenwood DMX906S and screen mirroring doesn’t work with my iPhone. Don’t think iPhones support it... it always disconnects CarPlay too if I try it.

It is my understanding that the Kenwood won't screen mirror iphones, only android.
I just tried the instructions in the link you gave and it didn't work with my Kenwood either.
The phone didn't recognize the HU for mirroring or screen recording (whatever that is), but it did find my Samsung TV.

I know some of the Pioneer HUs will mirror iphones thru an HDMI connection.
I had that in my Pioneer and it worked, but I never used it.

But I got rid of the Pioneer because of the screen lag.

There is no wireless mirroring available for iPhones on kenwoods. Only way to mirror an iPhone is to use the Kenwood AV cable and run the phone through an hdmi.

If it’s anything like my 996xr, you can’t mirror the phone if you’re connected to carplay as well. Try turning the WiFi off on the phone so it doesn’t keep trying to default to wireless CarPlay.

and Kenwood does have a way to hdmi in. I have mine hooked to an hdmi input.

Double checked the Ddx7907 only has the 1/8 to component input and I didn't know to ask to get it wired up and JRT is 5hrs away :) I have the apple USB on the plug and Android option hidden off to the side. Sucks. Wireless car play works awesome, would be super cool to stream Netflix or Hulu etc.

You could just buy a cheap android tablet and leave it in your truck. I plan on hooking my a/v in to a firestick and using that. I’ll find out on Tuesday/Wednesday when I do the install

If you purchase these items, you can mirror your phone to the screen or hook up anything that uses an hdmi, like a fire stick for instance. I mounted the hdmi plug in one of the 12v adapter outlets.

Just wanted to update this. While installing my DMX907s I had issues mirroring my iphone. I got my wife's android and it worked wirelessly. After that I tried the iphone again and it actually worked. I proceeded to install the head unit. I tried to get it to mirror this morning and it just says I need to enable the audio settings on the device which is what it said before. With that said, I know it can work but it seems really buggy.

I believe the fix is to order the $100 in parts and go with the HDMI route as posted previously in this thread. If I can get it to work through USB again I will update.

I have the DDX9707s and can’t get it to mirror through the USB port either. Instructions say to check the box nex to mirroring in my Bluetooth profile settings but don’t have that option. Just get the prompt on the HU saying it’s “connecting” but never does. Kinda reminds me of my wife come to think of it......
