I know the 2022 Limited is supposed to have it, but can't find it in the owners manual. Is it turned on with the mirror and rear window heaters?

    Thanks

Just a warning and fyi, sometimes the de-icer will crack the windshield right along its heating elements under the wipers. Happened to one of our relatively new cars during winter the first time we turned it on ... The guy replacing it told me he has seen it many times even with expensive new cars like BMW, Porsche, etc.
I told him not to connect ours. I can plug in the wires by popping a plastic thing under the hood if or when we decide to sell the car.

I've never turned on my Tundra de-icer and since I'm the only driver, I haven't unplugged it.

Having said that, we have a 2005 car (purchased new) and have used the de-icer for the past 17 years with no issues but according to the shop, it's not uncommon to crack the windshield.

We also own a 2022 Highlander Limited with the windshield wiper deicer. The first time we turned it on after being parked during a freezing rain we heard a pop after a couple seconds, the windshield cracked halfway up to the roofline from the deicer element. We tried to get Toyota to replace it but they said there was a small (very small) rock chip right at the base of the deicer and would not cover it under warranty. Fortunately our insurance covered it. And we insisted it be replaced with a genuine Toyota windshield and they still covered it. Strange observation, the OEM windshield didn’t have any Toyota branding on it but the replacement did!

I'll risk a cracked windshield so I can see out the windshield and not have half frozen wipers.

In my case they could not find any chip, ding or scratch whatsoever but the insurance agent told me based on his experience, the dealers will never cover that so don't even try it ... and the insurance covered it.

Most cars on the road don't have de-icer. Even the original Tundra that I was interested in didn't have one but i ended up buying one that came with an off-road or some other "package" that included de-icer ...

With most my cars without the de-icer, I usually click the switch quickly and the wipers move up an inch or so and stop and the defrost heat will keep them from freezing much quicker.

This may be stating the obvious but on my 2007 Tacoma there isn’t a deicer but if I know it’s going to snow/sleet/freezing rain I just lift the wipers into the upright position like you’re changing the blades and leave them there until I’ve cleared the frozen stuff. The parking lot at work has about half the vehicles wipers sticking up when it snows……

I'm not certain for all year models but I think that you get the heated wipers if you have the heated side mirrors. When you turn them on, the wiper heater comes on.
