I think it depends on what windshield you get. A generic is about 300 OEM is 559-630 depending on the model of truck.

    That’s why I have 0 deductible glass.

Check with your insurance company. They may cover it.

I checked and if it is a glass replacement it will default to the deductible. Which is $500 for me.

I have a $100 deductible for glass, but I think I remember the total saying it was around $400 or so on the paperwork when I had mine replaced a few months ago

Recently my insurance company paid my local glass installer $437 for my windshield, zero deductible.. the Safelite repair did not last

I had mine replaced at Windshield City in Chantilly, VA for around $275 about 6 months ago. They only use Pilkington or PPG, none of that Chinese crap. If you’re in NoVa, it’s the only place to go. Check out their ratings.

Not even close. Some of the glass from China is very distorted.

Depends, do a quote on safelite. For my
Malibu was close to 400 for total replace.
If you have small cracks under and inch , that’s different as well. If you drive a lot of highway, don’t waste ur time replacing it and just repair cracks if they are small.
you can also local check glass repair or even a junk yard, my best friends dad owns a car lot and I know she replaced a windshield for $100 for me once.

Nope, 2 types, rolled vs pressed. Rolled is better, clearer and stronger. You get what you pay for with windshields as far as quality and quietness.

Yep, there are different manf and some are better than others. Pilkington and PPG have the best glass.

Just wanted to update here. Auto glass of San Diego is charging $730 for a windshield replacement to my insurance. Not including calibration which insurance will likely pay more for more. This seems kinda nuts? My deductible is 500 so I don’t care either way but it seemed high for aftermarket glass.

Also they wasted two hours of my life unable to calibrate the glass the first time, blaming my 1.5inch lift…

My insurance paid $1750 to the dealer for my windshield and recalibration.
    I paid $100 deductible
    OEM windshield. No questions asked
Safelite said they wouldn’t touch my truck due to the “slight” lift.

    Just sharing my experience.

On my other vehicle I had a 14 years old factory windshield replaced with Pilkinton, because OE was Pilkinton. Within a year it got pitted lot worse then the OE Pilkinton ever was. The factory windshield was fine, I polished it not so long before it was hit by gravel and cracked. Old OE was super tough to polish. The new windshield is much softer.

When it became unbearable in sun glare I replaced it with a Chinese one (PGM? PGW? I forgot), and it is doing OK since installed 4 years ago. Better than Pilkinton unfortunately.

Tundra might be doing better, because its windshield sits much higher above the ground than my other car, and the hood deflects air away from the windshield. In my car the windshield gets every piece of debris.

Odd, with my insurance the windshield coverage is independent of the comprehensive. By that I mean there is no deductible applied for windshield replacement, so it didn't matter if my comprehensive deductible was $100 or $500. Windshield replacement also doesn't seem to negatively impact my insurance rates.

Safelite wouldn’t touch do the replacement because of the recalibration of the sensors on Lifted trucks.
They said they only have calibration measurements for OEM height. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I went to the shop with an appointment and they turned me away. Had to call up the dealer and luckily they had the windshield in stock. $100 either way.

Clarity of glass is very different. Chemical makeup of glass is roughly the same but the melting process can create distortion. Soda lime glass from China south glass is straight trash. Soda lime from Saint Gobain in Europe is very good.

@Challenger1 how do you get the insurance to cover it at the dealership? I'm lifted 4 front and 2 rear and I'm wondering if it's their company policy to turn away lifted vehicles due to the recalibration. My appointment is tomorrow (Saturday June 17th) but reading their reviews, they are horrible. I'd like to get OEM glass from a dealer or certified collision center (the one that repaired our 4R does glass). I'll call safelite in the AM about the lift and if they won't touch it, I'll call the collision center.
