So I got in the wifes 4runner sunday and i realized that i might have been a little rough on it on the move here and so on. Its idling rough as hell im pretty sure something in the vehicle is broken. It has less than 4000 miles on it and we bought in in November. So when it goes in for the oil change i'm just going to tell them to find and fix the issue.

It had just under 3000 miles when we left so it was after the break in period.

Any check engine lights or anything? I've heard of rodent issues where they will chew up some wiring and cause the engine to go into limp mode, and it will run like shit.

Where was the move from and to? Is there a drastic change in weather or altitude? Try disconnecting the battery and see if it gets any better.

Sorry to jump in on another's post, but my 01 tundra had an ABS light come on, and so I disconnected the battery for a while to see if it would clear the light and now it runs like crap! Can't even climb a slight driveway. Don't know what I did but this this pickup has ran great until now... but it definitely cleared the ABS code and the check engine light is not on for me to read any codes.

1.It's pretty much always okay to jump on another thread with a similar problem or question.

2.I don't know what to suggest as the cause of your truck's performance problem. I DO suggest you start a new thread though-- because even though your post is "on topic" with the discussion on the thread, the title of this thread gives no hint about the real topic, so unless someone happens in here (I have a 4 Runner, so I looked), there'd be no one to look BECAUSE they have suggestions to help you. Anyway, good luck finding a fix!

Tey cleaning out the throttle body. Take a paper towel and spray carb clean or brake clean on the towel (DO NOT SPRAY IT DOWN THE THROTTLE BODY!!!!) push the butterfly valve open and wipe around where the tb meets the butterfly really well.

this is your best bet at the moment. Other then that I wouldn’t screw with it at risk of voiding the warranty

Thanks Connor! I am atop Parachute, CO but going to see if I can mooch some help from the guys that go down the mountain daily to bring me some carb cleaner. I am really hoping this is what it takes because it's def in limp mode. I will let you know if it works.

    I wish you the best!

Also, if you plan on hanging around on the forum a decent amount, there are a ton of guys and companies located Colorado. We normally try and get together at least once a year, usually at toytec’s coustomer Appreciation day and we try for a bit more.

Here is the a good thread to go say what’s up In
    https://www.tundras.com/threads/colorado-bs-thread.39/page-80

Here is the 2018 toytec customer appreciation thread. (And you don’t have to be a customer persay, it’s more like a big truck show with food and you can see some of the products the toytec sells for your truck, they aren’t a lot of 1st gens that come around but I know most people get a slight stiffy seeing 1st gens. Ain’t that right zack @zcarpenter92)

Connor. I did exactly what you said to do. AND IT WORKS NOW! Thank you thank you! I even bought a tb positioning sensor in case the cleaning didn't work, but I will be taking it back to NAPA. Again, thank you!
