I suspect that is mostly due to vehicle weight. Looks like 1st gens can weigh as little as 4,000 pounds. My 2017 weighs nearly 6,000.

Several guys on here who went from 07-13 to 14+ have complained that the newer ones are sluggish. :notsure:

Doesn't make much sense to me, especially seeing your first gen is white. I drag raced an 08 when they first came out, at a sanctioned event at Riverside Airport, and he absolutely walked me. I had 33s and 4.56 gears in my defense and he had stock tires.

What color is your 3rd gen?

Could be the throttle response. They seems to have changed it in recent years. Some people get a pedal commander to fix it. Tell her to try again with nannies off and tow/haul on.

Wondering if my gear ratio is factory or not. Got it from my brother in law before he died and he always had race cars. Not sure. Like I said at 70 I'm at 2500 rpms

    Function before sparkle.
Was the 18 in Tow/Haul and did she bury the pedal into the rug?

I'm not knocking your wife at all but women don't tend to be as fearless(or stupid) as men. Is there a chance she simply didn't give it all it had? I find it hard to believe the 5.7 was slower.

I'm fairly certain our 4cyl Rav4 would beat my old Tundra in a drag race. They are not quick by any means.

Sorry to hear about your brother in law.

What size tires are you running? From there we can guess but if you'll need to confirm your speedometer is accurate with a GPS (Waze or anything like that works).

Some interesting and confusing data there. How could the regular cab be more than a second slower than the access cab. Maybe it was the 3.4L?

Assuming these numbers are right, the 5.7 is 1.5 seconds faster than the 4.7. 6.5 seconds to around 8 seconds. They don't have numbers for 05-06 with VVTI though.

An all stock first gen is pretty damn snappy.

I would like to drive a stock 05-06 access cab and see how it compared to my truck when it was stock.

Hmm, 2500 at 70? Is that looking at the tach or a scan gauge type unit?

Pretty much all the older vehicles I’ve driven are more responsive than the newer ones. My 04 Lexus doesn’t have any slop in the pedals compared to my moms 2016 Lexus. Last month I rented a pathfinder for a long drive...and that thing was something else. I’ve never been in an auto transmission car where you actually had to press the throttle to move in reverse.

I'm not sure about the Pathfinder, but I do know that some newer vehicles come with an automatic break that activates when you're stopped, and disengages when you hit the gas.

Newer trucks may have more "power" but they are really heavy. My 2006 V6 4runner will smoke my 2016 5.7 Tundra in a race. The 4runner pulls it off the line and continues to pull away.

All newer vehicles I have driven pretty much always seen less snappy and responsive. It makes driving an older automatic like the a340 seem like driving a manual compared to these newer ones. As ridiculous as that sounds, I stand by it
