Who likes chrome besides me.

Chrome liker here as well. Yeah buddy.

 

There must be a lot of people who like it because cars and trucks have had chrome accents for centuries and they keep making grills, bumpers, badges etc. in chrome. But, I picked the Sport because it has the least amount of chrome. Certainly not for me.

 

I dont mind it that much but i do not like mix n match. The 18 limited has chrome on bumpers upfront but color matched rears. Fortunately a guy sold me his silver bumper caps and i had them painted to match my black tundra at a local shop.

 

Chrome all the way for me! The fun has just begun! I cannot wait to get everything installed in the next 2 weeks or so.

I think chrome has its place. I have a white truck and think chrome rims would have looked great.

 

I do. I have chrome bumpers and chrome grill surround/bulge, pro insert. Mine is a little different than everyone else’s.

 

Chrome to a certain point. I might change the mirror caps to be color matched.

 

@JoeDenver what grill is that you have? I love it. I just bought a 2018 SR5 CM and it just has the chrome surround and the black honeycomb insert. I am looking at changing it out with something more like what you have.

 

Prefer chrome bumpers because they usually hold up better than painted over time. I really dislike painted shrouds in lieu of bumpers. Chrome wheels can look good with various color vehicles. Typically leave most stock chrome alone. My black wheels were a good deal, would have considered chrome.

 

The black running boards are sitting in my shop...after two days I decided I liked the chrome ones better...

I do like painted handles and mirror caps. Back in the old days my Honda was the cheap model and it had black bumpers and trim.

 

That’s really clean.

 

I like chrome, but chose to tone it down. Mirror caps and door handles are now color-keyed. I never liked the idea of the front door handles being chrome and the rear doors on the double cabs (by design) were color-keyed.

Yeah too much chrome can be unattractive as well. I feel it depends on the color of the truck. I like the painted look and chrome. I think they both look good.


I do find it weird that Toyota does chrome bumpers in the front and painted in the rear on certain models. I guess it gets you halfway there to whichever route you want to go LOL. But I do think they should do one or the other.

 

There a couple inconsistencies with the Tundra that I scratch my head. Like the grill on the different models.

 

I have explained this before. Chrome has changed throughout the decades. In the ‘50s, ‘60s, & ‘70s chrome contained elements that gave vehicles extra horsepower and torque. In the early ‘80s the molecular composition of chrome began to be altered, primarily by infiltration of communist elements and other subversive groups. The degenerative nature of this impact on chrome is well documented by the NSA and CIA but being withheld from the general public. Regardless, the chrome currently available to be placed on your vehicle will drain horsepower and make your truck slow and pathetic. Anyone in doubt should just check out the Dale Gribble blog on little known government conspiracies.
