Hey guys, funny enough I just saw someone in Pennsylvania post a similar thread this morning. I’m in a similar predicament. (No garage, driveway, tools, brains).

I have a 17 Platinum, bought the TRD sway bar. I can’t install it but really would like to do so before handing it off to my in-laws prior to a trip they’re taking in a couple weeks. I would love to pay someone who has done this before, just that shop prices suck. I’ll do it if I have to, but if someone local has done this before and can do it, let’s do it! I’ll not just sit by and watch, can hold shit, hand you tools and equipment, and I won’t call you “Dad”. Or I will. Maybe that’s part of the payment.

Thanks for reading, crossing my fingers.

The install is supper easy. Any mechanic should be able to do it inside of an hour. How much are they charging you?

Hadn’t asked. It’s generally not how quickly it can be done but more what “shop time” they pretend they need. The earlier post I saw I think they told him 2.5hrs, which I’m not at all surprised about. It seems easy as shit, especially with YouTube vids on it. Shops always seem to be quoting at least 2x actual shop time no matter the job. If I have to though I’ll go that route.

If they are going to gouge you that bad, it would be cheaper to buy just the needed tools. Grab a big piece of cardboard and do it in some businesses parking lot on the weekend.

I've never done it before, I own a 1st gen, but just watched this video on 2x speed to get the gist and it looks real easy. I have all the necessary tools. Let me know if you want me to give it a shot. And how much $ are you thinking?

The video you attached is the front sway bar. OP wants the rear installed.

OP: If you have the tools or can borrow them for a morning, I'll facetime with you so you can do it yourself, and no charge from me. Totally up to you. We can go over things (tools, cardboard and such) a few days before via FT. I've installed one myself on my 2020 in my driveway. No ramps or jack stands needed.

Is there a place you can rent a torque wrench and a breaker bar/impact gun. It’s a stupid simple install. It took me about 1 hour 10 minutes and I was taking a lot of union breaks. That’s a shame that the mechanics are that expensive.

On a side note your an amazing son in law…lending out your Tundra. :hattip:

I just watched a rear sway bar video and it looks just as easy as the front. Just putting it out there OP.

I'm about an hour south from Seattle and could have it done quickly. My 'freetime' is normally Tues, Wed, or Thurs if those days work.
I installed mine and it was extremely simple.

Dang! Wish this came through sooner, thanks all! Had it done in a shop, found one who knew the job well and did it for a hundred bucks.

And the in-laws are literally just getting on the road in the last half hour, heading for the Steen Mountains in SE Oregon. Look for my black beauty if you’re out that way!
