I’m considering going for it. My grandpa used to own a small Beechcraft and took our family up in it a few times. We’d mostly go visit family a state or two away.

I know it’s expensive, but I’d love to do it. Mostly so I can take my grandpa up again. His eyesight is too bad to fly himself anymore. I’m sure he’d love it.

Any advice/experience from the Tundras fam?

I did the Ground School last year. It was a real eye-opener to how complicated and expensive the hobby is. I took the class for work and not with the intention of getting my license, but it would have given me pause if I wanted to continue.

I say take Ground School and see how you feel about it afterwards!

I remember going for those $100 burgers when landing at different airports! Definitely expensive hobby but at least your license never technically expires.

Go for it! I got mine in 96. Actually started with my A&P license, then my IA, then my pilots license. Sort of got it out of necessity. We were starting an aircraft sales business at the FBO I was working at. We needed someone to fly them back from wherever we purchased them from. One of the best feelings in the world, taking family members up for rides etc!
Super expensive hobby though. Helped being a mechanic at the FBO, always having to do 100hrs, and Annual Inspections. Hmmm, think I better take this one up for a test flight!

Im 20 hrs into my PPL going 5 days per week currently and have been a glider pilot for the last 20 years. My husband is also a pilot. Its awesome, requires some dedication and money but its fun. 10 out of 10 would recommend.

Oh, it's definitely still on my mind. I need work to settle down first. It has been crazy for the last year.

I got my private license, VFR only for now. Work got in the way of my IFR though. Definitely go for it!

I have a bit over 20 hrs flight training in a Cessna 172. It gets expensive but still cheaper than heli training (at least in NJ).

Seems like a good club to be in and I’m looking forward to obtaining my private license. Most of the folks/pilots that I’ve talked to at the airport have said I can borrow their plane as long as I pay for fuel. That alone keeps me motivated.

That's a deal there. Flying clubs work well as long as one person(s) don't abuse things. Sometimes there's one that will lean way to far and shorten TBO times just to save a few bucks on fuel.

    Commercial helicopter here.

It’s horrible buying a bunch of block hours with your hard earned money only to repeat the process again in a few days. Not much better than flying though.

Keep us updated op. As long as you can swing it financially, I don’t know many people that regret it. Good luck!
